Lead Facilitator

Position Summary

We seek a Lead Facilitator to deliver programming to our Girls Groups programs in the Portland metro area, for up to 25 hours per week. The Lead Facilitator will primarily support programming through the facilitation of daytime and after school groups at 3 school sites, provide training and support to other Facilitators, and will deliver other program activities as directed by the Program Manager.

This Seasonal Site-Based position will begin in September 2026 and end in June 2027.

Primary Responsibilities

Program Delivery

• Report in-person to programming sites, and prepare for each program session, including planning and reviewing the curriculum for the week as well as gathering supplies and material furnished by the organization.
• Facilitate group discussions in a positive manner that ensures opportunities for participation by all youth.
• Facilitate high impact, engaging, interactive sessions to maximize learning.
• Adapt programming and facilitation style, lessons, and content as needed during sessions in response to group behavioral dynamics and youth needs.

Program Training and Support

• Provide training and support to new Facilitators, in coordination with the Program Manager.
• Facilitate at workshops and partner events as needed, in coordination with the Program Manager.
• Coordinate and transport program supplies, snacks, and handouts as needed to school sites.
• Adapt lesson plans as needed to support each individual group, share learnings with other team members, and work with the Program Manager to implement any needed curriculum changes.

Recruitment, Retention & Data Collection

• Provide occasional tabling support at recruitment and outreach events, to help boost recruitment and retention of youth enrolled in programming.
• Support key connections and relationships with Portland-based school partners, youth and families.
• Collect and track relevant program data, e.g., completion of session summary forms, enrollment forms, demographic information, and survey administration.

Schedule

Girls Inc. PNW normal business hours are Monday-Friday, 9am to 5pm; this position does require some weekly evening hours until around 6pm and very occasional weekend work which is pre-communicated and scheduled. Some flexible scheduling outside of normal operational hours will be supported and supervised.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience working with groups of youth as a facilitator
• At least 1 year of experience providing training and coaching to youth program professionals or facilitators
• Ability to manage multiple activities and sites seamlessly and to delegate effectively
• Highly detailed and adept at cross team collaboration with excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledgeable about best-practices in group facilitation and quality youth development programming
• Commitment to strength-based individual and group work
• Familiarity with hybrid workforce and distanced management structure
• Strong organizational skills with the capacity to proactively identify issues and generate creative solutions
• Ability to provide training, coaching and mentorship to new Facilitators, and to work collaboratively with the Portland Program team
• Committed to strength-based practices and knowledge of culturally responsive practices
• Willingness to have a flexible schedule, e.g. consistent weeknight availability required and limited weekend availability
• Must have the ability to travel to program sites, by way of public transportation, driving one's own vehicle, or another reliable mode of transportation
• Familiar with Google Suite, Zoom, and technologically savvy
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and sit or stand for prolonged periods of time

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant experience in gender-specific and/or experiential programming highly desirable.
• Interested in developing an understanding of Girls Inc. curricula and associated Positive Youth Development principles
• Understanding of the various barriers girls and youth face related to navigating K-12 education, post-secondary readiness and career readiness and understands barriers experienced by girls and youth in under-served communities
• Previous experience working with diverse populations
• Understands local trends related to the delivery of culturally responsive programming
• Flexible, independent, warm, strong organizational skills, capacity to problem solve and team-minded
• Understanding of and ability to apply a trauma informed lens

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $22-$23 per hour. The position is classified as non-exempt (eligible for overtime), part time, and an at-will employee role.

Standard work days are Monday-Friday, with in-person programs taking place Monday through Thursday. Anticipated hours for this position are up to 25 hours per week.
