    Position Summary

A Motogo Coach teaches, coaches, and mentors Motogo students, teaching them confidence and skill building through learning to build motorcycles. Some courses are taught at partner schools, and some courses are taught at the Motogo headquarters.

This role requires a classroom leader who embraces our mission with empathy and heart, balancing care and compassion with classroom management skills in a variety of private, public, independent schools and community centers representing students from a wide variety of ethnic, socio-economic, and gender backgrounds. It will help if you have a healthy balance between loving building relationships with people, working on teams, and finding joy in solving problems.

You do not need to know how to build a motorcycle to apply. We will teach you.

    Key Responsibilities

In all responsibilities, Motogo seeks an employee who will champion our Mission, Vision, and Values of celebrating failure as a necessary step on the road to mastery. This person will serve as a role model for Equity, Working with Your Hands, Self-confidence, Authenticity, and Community in all interactions and decisions and ensure Motogo’s programs reflect and advance the organization’s commitment to creating safe spaces where students can learn confidence through building motorcycles.

    • Mission & Values Alignment
      • Model and uphold Motogo’s core values
      • Create an inclusive, welcoming learning environment where ALL students feel safe to take risks, learn through failure, and build confidence.
    • Instruction, Coaching & Student Experience
      • Teach, coach, and mentor Motogo students through hands-on motorcycle, engine, and mini-bike engine builds.
      • Provide full classroom and shop-space management during programming.
      • Answer student questions (sometimes with a question), facilitate problem-solving, and guide students toward self-discovery rather than providing step-by-step answers.
      • Support students through the full build process, from disassembly to final assembly and troubleshooting.
      • Check final assembly of engines and motorcycles to ensure quality, safety, and readiness for program completion.
      • When possible, return to Motogo to help prepare equipment between coaching classes.

    Technical Expertise

    • Experience teaching or coaching young people between the ages of 13 and 18 is HIGHLY preferred.
    • Experience using hand tools...hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, drills....is a bonus but the willingness to learn to use them is more important.
    • Ability to read and use manuals, instructions, and diagrams is required.
    • Eagerness to learn is more important than technical knowledge.
    • A love of tinkering
    • Proficiency in Google Suite would be great, but ability to learn is required

    Requirements

    • Current Ohio teaching license or 5+ years of classroom teaching experience preferred
    • Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that is subject to change based on programs. Work hours are generally Mondays to Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm with occasional Saturday mornings (approximately 2 per quarter, opportunity to switch days with other coaches when you need flexibility)

    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud as we share space with woodworkers. When you have computer work to do, it is normal for folks to work at home or offsite at coffee shops.
    • The work environment has eye hazards and safety glasses are sometimes required.
    • This position is performed on-site at schools, community centers, and other public spaces as well as within Motogo facilities.
