Did you know that many common household products are tested on caged dogs who never step foot on grass or feel the sun on their face? Come join Beagle Freedom Project’s growing team dedicated to giving these dogs a second chance while working to end their abuse through education and advocacy.
Position summary:
The Volunteer, Events, and Community Engagement Manager role requires commitment to BFP’s mission and values. Responsibilities will encompass the overall day-to-day management of volunteers and functions, as well as organization-wide support and collaboration regarding BFP activities.
Primary duties:
- Act as a primary point of contact for all requests for volunteerism including telephone, voicemail, email and written requests in a timely manner
- Communicate mission and expectations to volunteers
- Collaborate with all departments to identify volunteer needs
- Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteer activities
- Conduct interview screenings and manage volunteer paperwork
- Orient and place volunteers into appropriate roles
- Manage volunteer records in tracking software
- Evaluate volunteers’ performance regularly and manage recognition
- Track volunteer service and hours
- Foster positive and collaborative relationships with volunteers
- Plan and organize community outreach events and activities
- Manage the creation and execution of an overall plan for community outreach and engagement, including raising awareness about the organization and the development of opportunities for both individuals and organizations that align with our mission
- Represent Beagle Freedom Project in community initiatives
- Coordinate logistics for special events
- Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor(s) and President
Skills & experience:
- Past non-profit volunteer management experience required
- Previous work or volunteer experience in animal advocacy, animal rights, or animal rescue is a plus
- Experience with volunteer management software is preferred
- Good public speaking skills
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Highly organized with the ability to multi-task effectively and re-prioritize as needed
- Demonstrated judgement and independent ability to manage strong programs
- Bachelor’s degree is required
