Early Childhood Lead Teacher: Prekindergarten

Saint Saviour Catholic Academy prepares students from Nursery to Grade 8 for higher education. Saint Saviour Catholic Academy is searching for a dedicated early childhood lead prekindergarten teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of effective practices with preschool school aged children. The candidate must create a stimulating learning environment that encompasses our philosophy of educating the whole child.

Requirements:

Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and pass a background check. Applicants must possess a degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education or related field.

Qualifications:

• Must demonstrate experience, interest and ability in working with young children and parents/guardians.
• Must exhibit a genuine nurturing, caring attitude to all children.
• Must demonstrate a strong knowledge of appropriate practices in early childhood development.
• Must demonstrate success in working as a member of a team.
• Must have effective and strong communication skills (orally and written).
• Must complete Diocesan Virtus Training Course including Code of Conduct and Background Screening.
• Must meet requirements of the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene/Bureau of Day Care.

Physical Requirements:

• Be able to lift 25-30 lbs.
• Be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety.
• Be able to supply a clearance of well-being, good health.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement the daily program of activities based on principles of child development and in accordance with the program’s curriculum.
• Maintain a safe, clean, learning environment and ensure the well-being and safety of the children in his/her care.
• Maintain a positive, calm attitude and a soft voice, and encourage this attitude and voice in others working in the classroom.
• Prepare materials and supplies in advance for activities.
• Participate in staff meetings, school activities, and staff development.
• Establish a positive relationship with each child’s family and share information about the child’s day in school.
