The Immigrant Alliance for Justice and Equity a nonprofit organization formed in 2019 to educate, empower, and organize immigrant communities in Mississippi. Job Title and Description:
IAJE is hiring an Executive Assistant to perform a variety of administrative tasks and support IAJE’s Executive Director. EA’s responsibilities include managing calendars, making travel arrangements, working closely with the other IAJE departments to prepare reports and managing the ED’s schedule and logistical spaces. The right person for this job will be flexible and quick on their feet. To be successful in this role, you should be well-organized, have great time management skills, take initiative, and be effective in a fast-paced, ever changing virtual work environment.
The Executive Director provides leadership and direction across IAJE’s programmatic areas to build power for immigrants and low-income communities throughout Mississippi by providing critical community organizing skills, leadership training opportunities and being in philanthropic areas where they are most needed.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage the Executive Director’s mailbox and calendar
- Manage Executive Director’s (ED) travel and produce trip and event itineraries
- Manage and direct ED’s phone calls, responding to emails, and taking messages promptly
- Manage and file ED’s documents, contacts
- Organize ED’s virtual workspace and documents
- Manage information flow in a timely and accurate manner
- Maintain confidential office files/records
- Maintaining filing systems, databases, and contact information, and organizing documents and files
- Work on special projects alongside ED
- Order supplies upon approval by Executive Director
- Other duties as assigned.

- Strong commitment to social justice, racial justice, and immigrant empowerment.
- Sensitive and compassionate to the needs of immigrant and Indigenous communities and their experiences
- Shares IAJE’s ideals, strategies, and beliefs in achieving racial justice, liberation, and building self-sustainable communities by immigrant and indigenous Mississippians
- Strong desire in achieving racial justice, liberation of and for immigrant and indigenous communities.
- Comfortable and respectful in working alongside and following the leadership of immigrant and Indigenous communities.
- Champion the rights of the working class of all immigrants and indigenous people.
- Ability to energize, inspire, and move people to action.
- Strong, engaging facilitation skills with community leaders that inspires and is interactive.
- Excellent ability to track, record and maintain data.
- Computer proficiency
- Excellent attention to detail and follow‐through.
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks and projects.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proficiency in Google Suite
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and regular access to a reliable vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
- Experience with one or more of the following areas: public health, campaign strategy, curriculum development, alliance building, media outreach, grassroots fundraising, and policy.
- Experience in and/or knowledge of the culture and history of organizing and advocacy in Mississippi or the Southeast.
Work Environment
The position will be remote.
Compensation:
$20-22 per hour
25-30 hours per week
