General Description: The church administrator provides organizational support to the church Pastor and committees.
Responsibilities:
- Produce the order of worship for the Sunday service (and occasional special services)
- Set up Sanctuary for worship – print new name tags as needed, post the hymn numbers, ensure welcome envelopes are in the pews
- Manage the church’s communication outlets – email, phone messages, US mail
- Support the pastor and committees as needed, including typing, filing, routine correspondence, scheduling
- Order office and church supplies as authorized by Session
- Prepare Annual Report
- Prepare monthly reports for Session as needed
- Maintain the church calendar and announcements, including on the church’s website (will train)
- Maintain the church membership and mailing lists
- Serve as point person for groups renting space in the church
- Serve as point person for others needing admittance to the building, including inspectors, repair workers, etc.
- Assist in ongoing digitizing of files and processes
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Skills:
- Solid knowledge of office procedures and office equipment, including printer/copier.
- Experience with MS Office software – MS Word and MS Excel in particular – and Google applications
- Comfortable working with minimal supervision
- Effective organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Adhere to professional confidentiality standards
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications in office administration are a plus
- Sensitivity to Providence Presbyterian Church’s values, beliefs, and mission
Physical Requirements:
- Comfortable walking up a few steps to the church office
Evaluations: This position reports to the church Pastor. Performance and salary reviews are conducted annually by the Pastor and the Personnel Committee of the church.
