    Position Summary

    The Program Director will have significant responsibilities and opportunities to design and manage the 3Point Foundation’s school day, after-school, and summer programming options, bringing the team together around the common goal of high-quality programming for all of our young people. 3Point is seeking an innovative builder, manager, and partner to lead our work on and off the court in a small, grassroots nonprofit. The ideal candidate is adaptable and capable of quick problem-solving to navigate the dynamic environment of Boston Public Schools. The candidate will provide leadership at the macro and micro levels, working closely with the Director of Academics to oversee the long-term strategy as well as supporting staff in person while leading the day-to-day programming during the school year and summer. This position has direct reports and will be supervised by the Executive Director (ED).

    General Objectives of this Role

    • Leading the design, goal-setting, implementation, and evaluation of all 3Point programs, including our enrichment and basketball programming
    • Advising development of programs, including any strategic changes in sites, staffing, curriculum, or design, and ensuring a successful carry-through of programs
    • Developing consistent practices, engaging/collaborating with schools and families
    • Creating and implementing program-based logistics and safety protocols
    • Acting as the lead in communications on all aspects of programming, helping to tell our stories to the broader community of supporters and families

    Responsibilities

    Program Design, Strategy & Evaluation

    • Collaborate with School Principals and ED to develop and cultivate strategic partnerships with schools/community stakeholders
      • Oversee the design, goal setting, implementation, and evaluation for all programs with our ED and in coordination with the program team. This includes programs (enrichment, basketball) across six schools and 2 summer sites, reaching approximately 300 kids annually. With the Executive Director, lead the strategy and vision for any new programs or shifts in curriculum.
    • Oversee and develop tools to assess and implement quality improvements and support the data collection in partnership with the Program team, Director of Academics, and Boston After School and Beyond

    Program Logistics

    • Manage and support the recruitment efforts led by the Program Team and the Director of Academics for both students and community/college volunteers
    • Support the Director of Academics in overseeing classroom management and training staff and volunteers to implement consistent classroom management strategies and the implementation of curriculum for participants across sites
    • Assist in hiring, onboarding, & training of new program staff and provide on-site support
    • Support the Program Team and Director of Academics with the recruitment, onboarding, and training of college interns/volunteers
    • Oversee the monitoring and compliance with safety and other regulations. Develop 3Point’s safety protocols and support protocols for crisis management by visiting sites weekly and as otherwise required.
    • Provide ongoing feedback and oversight to both enrichment and basketball programming
    • Working with the Managing Director to support the transportation plans of students to and from events when necessary
    • Find backup instructors when needed and substitute if necessary for absent instructors

    Program Communications & Staff Development

    • Support the Program Team, classroom instructors, and coaches in communication with families; build relationships through ongoing coordination with site staff, school-based staff, and families
    • Curate professional development opportunities for program staff in growing relevant skills and areas of expertise (e.g., positive youth development/engagement, day-to-day running of programs from a logistics perspective, and Social Emotional Learning)
    • Troubleshoot and remedy school, team, and student/family challenges
    • Be a consistent presence both at school and at the office as a member of the Leadership team

    Qualifications

    • At least 7-10 years of experience working to develop and implement youth-oriented programming for nonprofits, preferably in partnership with local schools
    • Demonstrated competency working with families of different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
    • Experience in self-management and supervision of others while working on a team
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
    • Excellent judgment, time management, and organizational skills
    • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and collaboratively as needed
    • Ability to give and receive direct and constructive feedback
    • Passion for working with young people
    • Proficiency with online systems: Google Workspace, School Mint
    • Ability to be on-site at schools when needed
    • Valid driver’s license and access to a car
    • Occasional evening and weekend commitments (1-2x a month) may be needed to fulfill the duties of this role
