JOB POSTING: DIGITAL & EARNED MEDIA SPECIALIST

    Organization: Repairers of the Breach

    Position Type: Full-Time, On-Site

Location: Raleigh Office (112 Cox Ave, Raleigh, NC 27605)

Reports To: President & Founder (Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II)

Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience and comparative to media specialist positions in North Carolina ($55,000 – $70,000 base range, dependent on qualifications).

    About Repairers of the Breach

Repairers of the Breach is a non-profit organization dedicated to framing a moral public agenda that prioritizes love, truth, and justice. We train communities, clergy, and advocates in moral movement building, anchoring major national initiatives like the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. Through public policy analysis, moral narrative storytelling, and strategic grassroots organizing, we work to challenge systemic racism, poverty, ecological devastation, and the distorted moral narrative of our time.

    Position Overview

Repairers of the Breach seeks a highly motivated, politically astute, and technically skilled Digital & Earned Media Specialist to join our communications team on-site at our Raleigh office on Cox Avenue. Reporting directly to the President and Founder, this individual will manage a dual portfolio: driving our multi-platform digital footprint while aggressively pursuing and securing earned media coverage (TV, radio, print, and digital news) to elevate our moral public narrative.

The ideal candidate will possess deep digital media production experience, a proven track record of pitching stories to mainstream journalists, and a sharp understanding of civil rights or non-profit advocacy messaging. You must thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment and be capable of translating the President’s vision into powerful content that mobilizes communities and shapes national news.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Earned Media & Press Relations
      • Media Pitching & Placement: Proactively pitch local, state, and national journalists, producers, and editors to secure high-impact press coverage for Moral Mondays, assemblies, and public policy declarations.
      • Press Materials: Draft, edit, and distribute compelling press releases, media advisories, op-eds, and statements under tight rapid-response deadlines.
      • Media List Management: Build and maintain an active, targeted database of reporters covering civil rights, religion, poverty, politics, and labor movements.
      • On-Site Press Management: Coordinate press logistics at rallies, news conferences, and events, serving as the primary on-site media point of contact.
    2. Content Creation & Digital Production
      • Multimedia Production: Film, edit, and produce high-quality digital video content, including rapid-response advocacy clips, live streams, and short-form social media videos (Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts).
      • Graphic Design: Design engaging infographics, digital banners, and social assets using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite to visually communicate complex policy and moral arguments.
      • Photography: Capture professional-grade photography at events, meetings, and press briefings for archival, press kit, and real-time digital use.
    3. Platform Strategy & Analytics
      • Social Media Management: Oversee the daily operations and community engagement across all official platforms (X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn).
      • Narrative Integration: Collaborate directly with the President & Founder to align daily social media outputs with real-time earned media narratives and breaking news.
      • Performance Analytics: Track, analyze, and report on performance metrics across both digital and earned channels, continuously refining strategies to expand our audience and movement reach.

    Qualifications & Core Competencies

      • Experience: 3–5 years of professional experience in public relations, journalism, digital content production, or non-profit communications. Direct experience pitching to mainstream press and managing media relations is required. Experience with political campaigns, faith-based justice work, or labor advocacy is highly preferred.
      • Media Savvy: Strong existing relationships with members of the press or a demonstrated ability to quickly build rapport with newsrooms.
      • Technical Proficiency: Expert-level mastery of video editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or CapCut), graphic design platforms (Canva or Adobe Creative Suite), and standard PR/media database software.
      • Communication Excellence: Exceptional written, verbal, and visual storytelling abilities. The candidate must be able to write sharp, professional copy for journalists while capturing the urgency and moral gravity required for grassroots mobilization.
      • Physical Presence: This is a strictly on-site role at our Raleigh office. Candidates must be available for regular daily in-office collaboration and regional travel as events require.
