Music for Minors is a nonprofit organization with more than 50 years of experience providing high-quality music education to elementary school students throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Our mission is to nurture in children a lifelong love of music while expanding access to arts education in diverse communities.

Pay: $40–$45 per hour
Location: Hybrid (San Mateo County and Mid/Upper Peninsula school sites and periodic office visits in San Mateo)
Schedule: Part-time. 20–30 hours per week; must be available Monday–Friday during school hours (8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.)

About the Role
Music for Minors (MFM) is seeking an experienced Program Manager to provide administrative and operational support for our elementary instrumental music program. Reporting to the Associate Program Director, the Instrumental Program Manager is a key member of the Programs team. This position serves as the primary contact for school partners and instrumental educators, ensuring high-quality program delivery across multiple school sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage relationships and communication with school partners.
- Coordinate schedules, calendars, and program logistics across assigned schools.
- Supervise and support a team of 6–9 part-time instrumental educators.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide coaching and feedback.
- Review educator timecards, session tracking, and time-off requests.
- Assist with educator hiring, onboarding, and professional development.
- Coordinate student instrument selection processes and instrument repair logistics.
- Support ongoing program planning and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Proficiency on a string, woodwind, or brass instrument required.
- 2+ years of classroom music/ensemble teaching experience required.
- 2+ years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and educational access.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to school sites throughout the Peninsula.
