    Organization:

The National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Association (NQAPIA) empowers LGBTQ+ Asians and Pacific Islanders through movement capacity building, policy advocacy and representation. Founded in 2015, NQAPIA is embedded in generations- and centuries-old traditions of resistance, resilience, and community-making among LGBTQ+ Asians and Pacific Islanders. NQAPIA is in a moment of transition and this is a ripe opportunity for a motivated development professional to help elevate our fundraising strategy across audiences and platforms.

    Position Summary:

NQAPIA is seeking a Development Manager to support the implementation of our fundraising strategy. The Development Manager focuses on individual donor cultivation, working in deep partnership with the Executive Director and cultivating a culture of giving within and beyond the organization. The Development Manager supports grant writing and corporate sponsorship efforts as well as individual donors. While this position is the single full-time development employee at this time, fundraising to support LGBTQ+ NHAAPI collective liberation is a collaborative effort amongst the team.

We are seeking a team player with strong organization, writing, relational and fundraising skills in this multi-faceted role. This role reports to the Executive Director, and works closely with all members of the team. This is a fully remote (US-based) position with frequent travel (up to 25%) and includes benefits (health, dental & vision; sick, vacation time, paid holidays) and a pre-arranged but flexible work schedule.

Primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

    Donor Cultivation & Relationship Management

    • Support the development and implementation of a major gifts program with an emphasis on high-net-worth individuals
    • Conduct ongoing prospect research and strategically identify prospective donors
    • Develop and implement individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for prospects and donors based on their history of giving, relationship to NQAPIA and knowledge of the donor’s potential
    • Support the Executive Director in maintaining her portfolio of high net-worth donors and engaging with them consistently
    • Work collaboratively with Executive Director to leverage relationships and enhance donor engagement

    Other Development Work

    • Support grant submissions by participating in strategic planning around grant identification, editing/reviewing submissions, and providing material necessary for applications; hold lower-level foundation relationships at the discretion of the Executive Director
    • Support system creation in tracking grant deliverables and leading grant reporting while working closely with all departments to gather the necessary data and materials
    • Support the Executive Director and outside consultants on developing and running donor and fundraising events
    • Collaborate with the Communications Manager to create effective collateral materials and other such content for distribution to donors

    Data Management

    • Fully own the organization’s Client Relationship Management Software database platform, NeonOne
    • Manage processes for oversight of donor information, tracking of gifts, and regular data review to support effective fundraising
    • Co-create, monitor, and report on major gift fundraising metrics; analyze trends in donor data to assess the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and recommend improvements
    • Collaborate with Director of Operations and Finance to ensure gift tracking processes align with accounting procedures and disclosure requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Lived experience with and demonstrated commitment to LGBTQ+ NHAAPI experience in the US
    • Expertise with CRM software
    • Experience executing fundraising strategies and campaign plans
    • Skilled at working with donors at all levels
    • Ability to “close the deal”
    • Attention to detail, superior writing and editing skills
    • Strong relationship and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
    • An open-minded approach and willingness to continually learn new technologies, strategies, and tactics related to the rapidly changing fields of strategic communications and digital fundraising
    • Understanding and ability to apply the intersectional racial, gender, and economic justice lenses that are required to communicate successfully in our diverse communities

    Preferred Experience:

    • Ability to track, report, and respond to digital metrics
    • Knowledge of the database system, NeonOne
    • Strong grant writing skills
    • At least three years of development experience
    • Experience hosting fundraising events and/or supporting people who do
    • Experience reporting directly to a busy Executive Director and supporting her efforts to stay organized and on top of fundraising strategy

Research shows that members of under-represented groups tend to not apply to jobs when they think they may not meet every qualification, when, in fact, they often do! We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment and strongly encourage you to apply.
