Mindful Philanthropy is seeking an entrepreneurial , mission-driven and operationally focused Senior Vice President (SVP) of Operations and Strategic Implementation. This senior executive will play a critical role in translating the organization’s board-approved strategic plan into effective and measurable execution across teams, systems, and partnerships.

The role is focused on stewarding Mindful Philanthropy’s existing strategic framework — centered on increasing philanthropic support for mental health, addiction, and well-being — through disciplined implementation, operational leadership, and internal alignment. By doing so, the SVP will ensure that the organization is well-positioned to achieve its four strategic priorities:

    1. Grow and sustain the organization
    2. Strengthen funder networks
    3. Align capital in strategic issue areas
    4. Unlock capital from adjacent sectors

    Responsibilities

    Strategic Implementation and Organizational Operations

    • Lead the implementation of Mindful Philanthropy’s multi-year strategy in collaboration with the CEO and senior leadership.
    • Develop and maintain systems, tools, and processes to monitor progress on strategic goals and ensure accountability across the organization.
    • Partner with the CEO to prepare board-facing updates and dashboards that track key performance indicators and impact metrics.

    Operational Infrastructure and Financial Stewardship

    • Oversee daily operations and finance, ensuring that workflows, policies, and procedures are aligned with the strategic plan and organizational values.
    • Lead annual budget development and manage financial planning in collaboration with the CEO and external accountants.
    • Ensure operational compliance and oversee risk management, legal matters, and audit processes.
    • Supervise the implementation and integration of technology infrastructure (CRM, finance tools, knowledge management) to support strategy execution.

    Team Leadership and Culture

    • Provide day-to-day leadership presence for staff, promoting a collaborative and mission-centered culture.
    • Manage team leads across operations, HR, communications and align with programs leads to ensure internal coordination and high-functioning project delivery.
    • Design and facilitate internal meetings, retreats, and offsites to drive alignment, morale, and team development.

    Program, Events, and External Coordination

    • Support the planning and execution of organizational convenings, funder engagement activities, and field-facing events.
    • Serve as a key partner to the CEO in coordinating across board members, funder networks, and philanthropic partners to advance shared goals.

    Qualifications

    • MPA, MBA, or equivalent professional experience.
    • 5–7 years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit operations and/or strategic implementation.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, design performance dashboards, and oversee complex projects with cross-functional teams.
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
    • Proficient in operational tools such as Google Workspace, CRM systems, QuickBooks, and cloud-based project management software.
    • Experience overseeing remote teams and creating strong, values-aligned organizational cultures.
    • Passion for mental health, addiction, and well-being, with a belief in the power of philanthropy to drive systemic change.

    Working Conditions

    • Full-time, remote position
    • Reports to the CEO
    • Domestic travel expected 4-6 times annually for team offsites and events
    • Comprehensive benefits included
    • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
