    Practicum Coordinator

    Hourly, 10-15 hours per week; Fully remote. 2-3 hours per day required, M-F.

    Must be fully bilingual (English & Spanish)

    Must be based in Latin America or the United States

    About the Practicum Coordinator Role

    The CFHI Practicum Coordinator provides program management and organizational leadership for CFHI’s virtual and place-based practicum portfolio, providing detailed support, coordination, and oversight for up to 75 student practicum projects per year. They provide robust support to all academic partnerships that seek student projects and practicums, offer info sessions and ensure process compliance for institutions and students, and generally engage in outreach to highlight the practicum opportunity for MPH, MSGH, advanced clinical trainees, and others seeking practicum/project opportunities. The Practicum Coordinator also supports other key initiatives at CFHI, including offering 1:1 and group interviews for custom programs as needed; reviewing and grading case study submissions completed by 4th year/senior level medical students utilizing a rubric; managing the life cycle and budget for CFHI’s Community Health Projects & Professional Development Grants, leading occasional Global Health Roundtable webinars; and engaging in occasional opportunities to collaborate on research/publications with CFHI team members; among others. This role generally supports advanced public health and clinical learners in CFHI’s programs and provides key collaboration touchpoints with the CFHI Global Team.

    The right candidate must be available 2-3 hours per day, Monday through Friday, and be fluent in both English and Spanish. The ideal candidate will have experience and training in global public health (MPH or similar preferred), is highly organized and detail-oriented, is comfortable in a fully-remote work environment and able to be self-motivated and independently achieve goals, is very comfortable with public speaking and presenting, and thrives in a collaborative intercultural environment.

    Your Impact

    • Working with CFHI’s global team to understand available practicum projects, locally based NGOs, and other details of practicum opportunities. Utilize thoughtfulness and collaboration to ensure global team members lead on project development while also supporting to ensure that projects are also appropriately scoped, articulated, and within CFHI’s ethical approach, and shared within the university timelines.
    • Ensuring that an annual predetermined goal for practicum participant enrollment are met/exceeded.
    • Ensuring completion of university-required forms and processes within stated timelines.
    • Maintaining a detailed practicum scholars' databases for project coordination and enrollment tracking.
    • Ensuring all practicum projects/deliverables are submitted to CFHI and organized in a database.
    • Conducting outreach and promotion of CFHI practicum opportunities through listservs, constant contact, info sessions, ad words, social media and other venues (in collaboration with team members who oversee various platforms). Support outreach efforts for CFHI programs, including contributions to publications, conferences, and membership networks.
    • Supporting screening and interviewing of applicants for various CFHI programs (not limited to practicums)
    • Utilizing a rubric, review and grade clinical case studies submitted by 4th year/senior medical students participating in CFHI’s in-person programs.
    • Leading virtual Global Health Roundtables discussions (weekly/bi-monthly, depending on month)
    • Lead CFHI’s Community Health Project and Professional Development grant cycle (approximately $20,000 annually) including posting RFPs, sending reminders, collecting submissions, convening and overseeing the review committee, notifying recipients, overseeing budget and disbursement, collecting reports and deliverables.
    • Developing an annual report content and report to Board of Directors (BOD) annually on impacts of practicum program, strategic directions, hurdles and opportunities.
    • Consideration and thought leadership around optimizing the diversity, equity and inclusion of students participating in practicums.
    • Updating and optimizing practicum content/presence on CFHI’s website
    • Working with universities who have custom reporting mechanisms for practicum students
    • Ensuring practicum students enroll and complete all registration steps correctly within CFHI website
    • Ensuring practicum student lists are sent to partners monthly (or as applicable)
    • Ensuring completion of all forms required by students and universities for practicums
    • Establishing streamlined operations for practicums as is feasible and in collaboration with global partners.

    Other Important Characteristics

    Fluent in English and Spanish, written and spoken

    Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) and Zoom.

    Position Logistics

    Location: fully remote (USA or Latin America)

    Travel: Some US and international travel may be occasionally required, up to two times/year

    Compensation

    Paid hourly, commensurate with experience. This is a part time, non-exempt role (or independent contractor).
