Interim Managing Director
The Magic Theatre, a nationally recognized 59-year old San Francisco Legacy Business, seeks a full-time Interim Managing Director to lead Administrative and Business operations of the theatre through its next phase of existence. A key leader of the Magic team, the Interim Managing Director will oversee all areas of financial and human resource operations and compliance and will work with a passionate team. This position will be for a limited time (3-6 months) with the potential to lead to a permanent position.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Duties:
Finance
- Oversee Weekly Check Processing, Printing, Mailing, Payroll Preparation
- Bank Account and Credit Card Reconciliation
- Cash Flow forecasting and updating
- Organizational and Production Budgeting
- Overseeing the Annual Audit
- Handle all Bank Deposits
- Oversee Accounts Payable/Receivable
HR
- Benefits Administration
- Employee Onboarding and Employee Records
- Oversee Vendor and Contractor relationships
- Insurance Oversight
- Oversee Legal Compliance
- Oversee Theatrical Union Relations
- Policy creation / revising
- Union relations and compliance
Development
- Establish and maintain relationships with Institutional Funders and Individual Donors where required.
Facilities
- Oversee IT and security needs and compliance
Board
- Report to and work in tandem with the Board of Directors and attend monthly Board meetings.
Leadership
- Manage and work with a team of exceptional theatremakers and artists.
- Create and facilitate positive environments for artists and productions.
- Represent the Magic to the public and local community.
- Advise on and participate in discussions on organizational structure, strategy and trajectory.
Qualifications
- Understanding of Finance and GAAP, especially for nonprofits.
- Experience with HR and Payroll operations.
- Demonstrated experience in a management or leadership role.
- Experience with Google Suite.
- Positive and welcoming mindset.
- Ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks and needs.
- Experience and understanding of theatrical production and processes.
- This position involves: working at a computer or desk for long periods of time, lifting heavy objects (up to 50lbs).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Unions and/or Collective Bargaining Agreements a plus.
- Human Resources Experience (including benefits administration) a plus.
- Work with diverse populations, backgrounds and indentities.
SALARY
- $70,000-75,000 per year, Full Time, Exempt.
