    Descrição

The Justice Roundtable is a broad-based coalition of more than 100 organizations working to reform federal criminal legal laws and policies. Founded in 2002, the Roundtable serves as the progressive voice for justice reform, coordinating the legislative and advocacy efforts of the Washington criminal justice community across issues including sentencing reform, law enforcement, drug policy, and more.

The Sentencing Project is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit member organization of the Justice Roundtable. On behalf of the Roundtable and in coordination with other member organizations, The Sentencing Project is leading the hiring and supervision for this position.

    Consultant Description and Responsibilities

The Convener will attend monthly Justice Roundtable working group meetings and, with the assistance of working group chairs, work to expand participation in and impact of the Justice Roundtable.

The Convener will also plan, coordinate, and facilitate the four engagements during the contract period – two internal convenings and two external Hill briefings.

The Convener will also work to expand participation in the Justice Roundtable through outreach to potential member organizations and by updating its online presence. The Convener will increase the public presence of the Justice Roundtable through public communications, supported by The Sentencing Project, including earned media and opinion editorials and, as capacity permits, supporting rapid response advocacy activities.

Convener’s prior experience and qualifications should include:

A minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience involving federal policy practice is required, with a preference for work on criminal legal reform issues. TSP values a range of experiences in people’s educational backgrounds and encourages people who have been directly impacted by the criminal justice system to apply.
