    Descrição

    Part-time (25 hours/week) through November 2026. The schedule will be flexible, with some set weekly meetings and training during normal business hours. Some evening and weekend work may be required. This is a hybrid position that does not require you to be in-office daily, but in-person meetings, training, outreach efforts and events will be required in Ohio.

    The Regional Organizing Fellow will be responsible for working 25 hours per week. They must be comfortable using technology like a smartphone and a computer, opening a web browser, and engaging in software to help organize and facilitate relational work. Computer literacy is a must in this position. They must also be comfortable having conversations in person, via text and via the phone and being able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods.

    This position will require good verbal and written communication skills. Additionally, they will need familiarity with social media platforms.

    They must be self-starters and able to remain on task for their deliverables without being in an office setting. They must also be organized and self-motivated. And, willing to ask questions if their program goals or how to obtain program goals are unclear.

    They must be reachable during working hours and have access to strong, reliable internet in their work setting.

    Meetings & Reporting: fellows will be expected to engage on regular zoom calls, phone check-ins and in-person team meetings to discuss the day’s work and address any problems that arise, any complaints, questions, or concerns, and to go over the next week’s assignments. They will be responsible for attending trainings and regular meetings.

    Additionally, they will be expected to fill out a nightly reporting form. This form is critical to track progress, get feedback on the program, and allow us to provide support where needed. This form is part of their work and should be completed before wrapping up for the day.

    Responsibilities

    Programmatic work is listed below but will include other duties as assigned:

    • Conduct volunteer outreach activities, including canvassing, phone banking, text banking, and tabling.
    • Coordinate leadership development opportunities, including trainings, leadership meetings, and committee meetings.
    • Plan and support large-scale public events such as community conversations, town halls, public meetings, and demonstrations.
    • Engage and mobilize volunteers to participate in organizing and advocacy efforts.
    • Build volunteer leadership and strengthen community participation in campaigns.
    • Able to work effectively with diverse staff, leaders, partners, and the general public with understanding of the intersection between race, class, and gender
    • Works closely with the team and supervisor to develop and implement campaign and work plans.
    • Recruits supporters into volunteer teams to educate and motivate people to take action around local and statewide education related issues.
    • Recruit and develop parent leaders to advocate for public education.
    • Build a grassroots base of parents focused on protecting and expanding school funding.
    • Organize outreach, meetings, trainings, and actions to engage families in education advocacy and civic engagement.
    • Mobilize communities impacted by education funding cuts and harmful public policies.
    • Educate parents on education issues and opportunities for civic engagement.
    • Build relationships with families, schools, and community partners.
    • Strengthen community power through grassroots organizing and movement building.
    • Support campaigns to fully and fairly fund Ohio’s public schools.
    • Attends and actively participates in team and statewide meetings, meets regularly with supervisor, submits all reports in a timely manner, and attends trainings as required.

    The Regional Organizing Fellow is a part-time salaried position. A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience is preferred but persons meeting the skills listed above should still apply. The fellow must possess a cell phone, an Ohio driver’s license and have access to a reliable automobile. In-state and national travel is required. Some weekend and evening hours will be required. Work-related expenses are reimbursed according to policy. Physical requirements include frequent standing, walking, ability to sit in meetings and lift moderate weight for supplies.

    OOC will be hiring three Regional Organizing Fellows in Ohio located in Dayton, Grove City, and Parma, Ohio.
