    Descrição

    Position: Director of Development

    Reports To: Executive Director

    About Us:

Boston Landmarks Orchestra produces free professional concerts and community events during the summer, with a growing focus on year-round programming. We foster a fun, accepting atmosphere not often seen at a classical music concert. Our concerts are a place where communities across Boston are brought together. We believe that when people from different backgrounds and demographics come together through the medium of music, barriers are broken down. We program works by composers of many different backgrounds and genres and collaborate frequently with an array of community partners. Our year-round programming has a particular focus on marginalized groups, including communities of color, low-income communities, and older adults. Boston Landmarks Orchestra’s annual operating budget is around $1.5 million, with over 90% of the revenue from foundation and government grants as well as individuals and families.

    Position Overview

    • Deepen relationships with existing donors while launching systematic initiatives to identify and target individuals capable of making major financial commitments in support of Landmarks
    • Manage and execute all aspects of the development operation including annual campaign, major gifts, corporate relations, foundation relations, government relations, donor relations, and events
    • Supervise Development Manager (currently vacant; will be hired by Director of Development)
    • Partner with the Music Director and Executive Director, providing the strategic focus necessary to ensure their effectiveness as chief spokespersons and fundraisers for Landmarks
    • Direct the creation, development, and implementation of programs designed to build meaningful relationships with constituencies
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

    Qualifications and Experience

    • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising roles in a similar sized development operation or comparable organization
    • Demonstrated track record of success executing gift cultivation and solicitation strategies, and meeting annual fundraising goals
    • Proven success working closely with an Executive Director/CEO to support their fundraising activities
    • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people including donors, staff, board and volunteers
    • Strong presentation, persuasion and story telling skills, both verbal and written
    • Aptitude for prioritizing, attention to detail, managing time in a fast-paced environment which often presents competing priorities, and ability to meet deadlines
    • Ability to gather, analyze and summarize information including numerical and financial data
