    ABOUT TIRRC VOTES:

    TIRRC Votes is the 501(c)4 affiliate of the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition. Founded in 2018, our mission is to strengthen and expand our democracy by building power in immigrant and refugee communities and advocate for equitable and inclusive public policy.

    ABOUT THE POSITION:

    TIRRC Votes is seeking an experienced Civic Engagement Manager to spearhead our electoral efforts across the state. This position will be responsible for managing the organization’s field plan and ground game, developed collaboratively by organization leaders and the board of directors, with the goal of registering eligible immigrant and refugee communities, involving voters in digital campaigns, and getting our base and allies to participate in local, state, and federal elections.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Voter Engagement, Education, and Mobilization

    • Recruit, interview, train, and manage part time lead and general voter engagement team members, such as canvassers, phonebankers, and community education coordinators
    • Invest in leadership development of those supervisees through frequent one-on-one check-ins, group trainings, and skill building
    • Receive, review, and approve intake paperwork, timesheets, credit card receipts, and reimbursements of all TIRRC Votes supervisees
    • Assist in the development of TIRRC Votes program budget while tracking and managing budgets for individual campaigns and events
    • Lead and participate in volunteer and paid canvasses, phonebanks, textbanks, and postcard writing events across the state
    • Create and implement a statewide voter registration campaign plan for various immigrant and refugee communities
    • Create multilingual spaces and voter education opportunities for immigrant and refugee voters across the state, such as statewide calls, community meetings, and events
    • Attend and/or host community meetings and events to recruit supporters and prospective volunteers
    • Recruit and train individual and organizational volunteers to assist in voter mobilization efforts
    • Give input on canvassing scripts for accountability and voter turnout based on community and organization priorities
    • Present on relevant voting information, electoral and issue campaigns, and organizational priorities to community groups;
    • Collect, share, and amplify stories of immigrant and refugee voters alongside members of the communications team
    • Be well versed in voter access tools to mobilize voter and advocacy campaigns across the state
    • Represent the organization in traditional, ethnic, and social media as needed
    • Assist in content creation including graphics, social media content, and email campaigns

    Policy Advocacy

    • Identify policy opportunities and collaborate with advocacy team members to develop and lead campaigns that expand voter access.
    • Lead or participate national, state, and local advocacy activities pertaining to community and organizational priority issues, especially during the state legislative session
    • Identify and train impacted community members to be spokespeople for advocacy campaigns
    • Find entry points for ally engagement during legislative session and cultivate future involvement in electoral activities
    • Lead phonebank, textbanks, or canvasses in key targeted districts for advocacy priorities each legislative session, with a focus on building power for future electoral activities

    Relationship and Coalition Building

    • Build and maintain relationships with community partners interested in collaborative voter engagement work, while also training community partners that need extra support or consultation
    • Convene groups of partners to form collaborative coalitions and standing voter engagement tables
    • Identify and train community members to serve as representatives on various voter engagement coalitions across the state, and in some cases represent the organization in such coalitions
    • Ensure coalition activities respect and maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal laws pertaining to political activity, especially in joint 501(c)3 and 501(c)4 spaces

    Data Administration Support

    • Enter data and contacts into organizational databases
    • Create lists of voters using Voter Activation Network (VAN) for phonebanks, textbanks, and canvasses while maintaining data integrity of the organization
    • Create VAN lists for partner organizations that are wishing to participate in civic engagement activities
    • Follow best practices and organizational policies for integrating VAN data to our organizational database to maintain organizational data hygiene

    Job responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed above. As with every position at TIRRC Votes, every person in the organization will assist their colleagues to ensure a cooperative environment and respond to the needs of the moment.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Belief in TIRRC’s mission and commitment to social justice;
    • Familiarity with the state of Tennessee preferred;
    • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with diverse communities;
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
    • Ability to manage projects and meet your own deadlines while holding others accountable to theirs;
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and work in a fast-paced environment;
    • Strong computer skills; experience with VAN, MiniVAN, VoteBuilder, ThruText, Hustle, and Reach preferred;
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends with some statewide travel required;
    • Fluency in English required and another language preferred;
    • Must have reliable transportation.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS PACKAGE:

    Salary Range: $57,000- $67,000 depending on experience with relocation support available.
