    Jewish Currents is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to manage events and outreach for all Jewish Currents programming.     Position

    The Program Coordinator will manage and execute Jewish Currents’ growing programmatic offerings, which bring together readers and supporters around the country to gather, learn, and connect. While the primary focus of the role is coordination and logistics for events, the Program Coordinator will have the opportunity to help shape the development of our events program. The Program Coordinator will also manage promotion for programming, and orchestrate logistics—such as coordinating with speakers, venues, volunteers, and vendors—for a wide variety of in-person and virtual events including panel discussions, artist talks, and issue launch parties.

    Founded in 1946, Jewish Currents is a magazine committed to the rich tradition of thought, activism, and culture on the Jewish left and the left more broadly. We cover a wide variety of topics, including the uses and misuses of antisemitism, the inner workings of Jewish communal organizations, Israel/Palestine politics on the ground and internationally, race and racialization, strategies and horizons of American left movements, the global rise of the far right, diasporic cultural expression, labor, climate, incarceration, immigration, and feminism.

    Responsibilities

    • Program support and coordination
      • Facilitate and participate in event ideation and brainstorming efforts with Jewish Currents staff, speakers, and other stakeholders
      • Coordinate with Jewish Currents staff, speakers, and other stakeholders to plan and manage our events calendar
    • Event logistics and promotion
      • Coordinate with venues, volunteers, and vendors for in-person events
      • Coordinate on-site logistics for in-person events and provide tech support for virtual events
      • Write and execute promotion and outreach about events, including online event pages, email announcements, and social media campaigns
      • Manage programming budget, with support from Managing Director and/or Deputy Publisher
      • Track participation and engagement in internal database
      • Manage the events@jewishcurrents.org email inbox
    • Miscellaneous
      • Support the operations team with additional administrative support as needed

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years of experience in organizing, programming, event coordination, administrative work, or advocacy work
    • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication
    • Ability to recruit and manage volunteers, and collaboration across teams
    • Does well working in fast-paced environments with shifting tasks and priorities
    • Knowledge of Jewish study, art and culture; and/or left and progressive politics; and/or the politics of Israel/Palestine
    • Experience with budgeting or financial management beneficial, but not required

    Location, Schedule, and Team Structure

    This position is based in New York City, and will involve occasional travel within the continental US. This position will be part of the organizational team and supervised by the Deputy Publisher.

    The organization's standard workday is Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM- 5:30 PM ET. For this position, some evening and weekend work will be required, which will be accommodated in the employee's weekly schedule. Particular details regarding scheduling are subject to negotiation upon hire.

    This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East Collective Bargaining Agreement.
