    The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization. CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

    About the Position

    CAIR-Connecticut (CAIR-CT) is seeking a dynamic, visionary, and experienced leader to serve as its Executive Director. The Executive Director will be responsible for the overall management, strategic direction, and growth of the chapter. This role requires a leader who is deeply committed to CAIR’s mission, possesses strong communication and organizational skills, and has a proven track record in advocacy, fundraising, and community engagement.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a strategic plan to advance CAIR-CT’s mission and increase its impact in the state.
    • Advocacy and Civil Rights: Lead the chapter’s civil rights and advocacy efforts, including responding to reports of discrimination, engaging with policymakers, and organizing campaigns on key issues.
    • Fundraising and Development: Lead fundraising initiatives, including donor cultivation, grant writing, and organizing fundraising events to ensure the financial sustainability of the chapter.
    • Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, interfaith partners, and other organizations to foster collaboration and support.
    • Media and Communications: Serve as the primary spokesperson for CAIR-CT, managing media relations and overseeing the chapter’s communications strategy.
    • Operations and Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the chapter, including staff management, budget oversight, and compliance with organizational policies.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Master’s degree preferred).
    • At least 5 years of experience in non-profit management, advocacy, or a related field.
    • Strong understanding of civil rights issues and the challenges facing the American Muslim community.
    • Proven track record in fundraising and organizational development.
    • Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Commitment to CAIR’s mission and values.
