Lake Washington Girls Middle School (L-DUB) seeks a full-time Science teacher for our 2025-26 school year. Your Team You will be a part of the Science/STEAM teams that follow UDL principles to facilitate and support classroom instruction. Instructors need deep content knowledge that is accessible to all students and be able to employ developmentally appropriate teaching methods, materials, and workload expectations for students in grades 6-8.

Our Science curriculum aims to foster confident and courageous scientists as they explore life science (6th), the human body (7th), and physical science (8th). Through thematic units, projects, and labs, students develop their skills in scientific modeling, data analysis, designing investigations, scientific argumentation, developing hypotheses and inferences, and scientific literacy. Students are assessed using standards-based grading.

YOUR ROLE - As a Science teacher at L-Dub, you will be responsible to align with the curriculum goals of the Science/STEAM team as expressed above and specifically perform the following:

• Teach Science and support student success through instruction that includes scientific modeling, investigation, data analysis, scientific argumentations, and scientific literacy;
• Enhance curriculum and student engagement with relevant lessons, guided practice, and age-appropriate technologies;
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student growth and progress using standards-based grading and written narrative reports;
• Facilitate student learning plans and accommodations to support varying learning needs;
• Proactively engage with families, Student Services, and/or others appropriate to support a student’s progress in academics and in social and emotional development; and
• Meet regularly with faculty and staff to collaborate on curriculum development, pedagogy, and assessment with the Science/STEAM department.

In addition, L-DUB teachers enjoy and are expected to be active community members by performing other school community duties such as facilitating class meetings and advisory groups, engaging in overnight trips, teaching about equity and social justice, sharing supervisory duties, and providing general support and care of the school community as assigned by the Head of School.

The successful candidate should possess the following education and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree welcome;
• Three years of Science classroom teaching experience, preferably in grades 6-8;
• Knowledge and application of pedagogy, instructional strategies, and technology in science teaching, as well as differentiated instruction and effective classroom management practices;
• Commitment to equity, justice, and inclusion as an important foundation for educating youth;
• Experience with and passion for working with middle school students;
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and families;
• Ability to build relationships with a diverse school community;
• Commitment to continuous improvement, reflection on teaching practice, and professional development; &
• Strong passion for the school’s mission and vision.

The successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal background screen prior to starting and either possess or be able to secure CPR/First Aid certificate shortly after start.

Salary Level: $58,750 - $105,000

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity and market data, as well as an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
