    The New York Philharmonic connects with millions of music lovers each season through live concerts in New York and around the world, as well as broadcasts, recordings, and education programs. After returning to a transformed David Geffen Hall in 2022, the Orchestra is acting on a renewed commitment to building on a legacy of more than 180 years, serving as a platform for today’s greatest musical artists and connecting with our communities. Gustavo Dudamel will become the Philharmonic’s Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Music and Artistic Director in the 2026–27 season.

    The New York Philharmonic seeks a Vice President, Production, who will oversee and be responsible for all aspects of its concert production, media capture, touring, and venue relationships, including, but not limited to David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center. This senior level position will take the lead in coordinating operational logistics associated with New York Philharmonic performances and events at our home venue in New York, and on tour. This position will be responsible for finding opportunities to maximize revenue through creative and nimble scheduling, coordinating and operationalizing innovative performance formats across genres. The Vice President, Production, will oversee media functions as it relates to the capturing and dissemination of audio and visual content, working within all applicable media agreements to produce high quality content within tight budgetary parameters.

    Your Day-to-Day

    • Manage production and operational staff, as well as oversee Union stage crews.
    • Oversee the media production team, particularly as it relates to the audio and visual capturing of New York Philharmonic performances, both at David Geffen Hall, and other venues.
    • Serve as a key leader for all collective bargaining negotiations.
    • Work with CEO in strategizing all individual musician overscale negotiations in collaboration with Orchestra Personnel Manager.
    • Serve as the primary operational liaison between the New York Philharmonic and Lincoln Center.
    • Support VP of Artistic Planning in cultivating relationships with various touring presenters and partners throughout the world. Serves as the primary point of contact with tour presenters and our tour managers in negotiating terms, managing scheduling & logistics, etc.
    • Serve as primary management representative to various orchestra committees including but not limited to the Orchestra committee and Tour committee.
    • In conjunction with the Vice Presidents of Artistic Planning and Marketing, oversee and plan the development of the New York Philharmonic’s season schedule, looking for all opportunities to maximize efficiency and revenue, while prioritizing the organization’s artistic vision.
    • In conjunction with Chief Financial Officer and VP, Artistic Planning, co-lead the season planning budgeting process.
    • A commitment to valuing different perspectives and contributing to an inclusive working environment.

    What You Bring to the Team

    College level degree with a minimum of 7 years’ experience working in a production or operations management role (orchestra, opera or musical theatre) is preferred. Experience working as a senior leader at a major orchestra, arts institution or media organization. Strong knowledge of lighting, live sound, audio recording, video and projection, rigging, scenery, props, costumes, stage management, freight/cargo and similar. Keen aesthetic sense essential to ensure the New York Philharmonic is always presented beautifully. Experience working with contracts and collective bargaining agreements, exceptional management, interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to create and manage budgets, knowledge of classical music desired and must be available to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, late nights, holidays and weekends.
