Teen Coordinator

The Teen Coordinator oversees the ongoing development and daily operation of the Teen Visionary Program. The primary objective is to keep high-risk teens in school, support their pursuit of higher education and career pathways, and teach life and job-readiness skills while promoting the emotional, social, and behavioral development of all participants. S/he establishes and maintains relationships with community resources, provides direct service and outreach to recruit and retain participants, and assists youth in achieving their individual service goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES

• • Conduct needs assessments of the community and youth to formulate activity plans that advance program objectives.
  • Actively engage in community activities, coalitions, and groups beneficial to program participants.
  • Conduct extensive outreach to recruit eligible youth into the Teen Visionary Program.
  • Plan and implement educational, vocational, social, recreational, athletic, and cultural activities tailored to youth needs.
  • Provide training, direct supervision, and mentoring to Youth Workers, Peer Leaders, volunteers, and program participants.
  • Act as an advocate for participants; coordinate services with families and key stakeholders, including Boston public schools, DCF, and the juvenile justice system.
  • Conduct consistent retention outreach to ensure teens remain actively engaged.
  • Participate in developing and implementing outcome measures; collect, enter, and report required participant data; complete assigned reports.
  • Assist the Youth Director with designing and launching new program components.
  • Employ a team approach to holistic service delivery across Brookview’s multi-service agency.
  • Attend designated staff trainings and supervisory sessions.
  • Provide program coverage and direct service delivery as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Associate degree or equivalent youth-development experience REQUIRED; Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Youth Development, Education, Human Services, Social Work) PREFERRED

Experience:

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with high-risk teens
• Demonstrated experience in program development and activity planning
• Experience coordinating with community systems (schools, DCF, juvenile justice)

Supervisory experience overseeing youth workers, peer leaders, or volunteers PREFERRED

Licenses / Certs:

Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle REQUIRED; First Aid / CPR Certification PREFERRED

Skills:

• Strong program development, organizational, and resource-management skills
• High energy level with ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Demonstrated ability to build rapport with diverse youth populations
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Bilingual (English and Spanish) PREFERRED

Other:

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Satisfactory completion of background check REQUIRED

Dynamic youth center, school, community, and office environment. Involves active youth interactions, athletic/recreational activities, and local field trips. Requires reliable vehicle transportation for community outreach, school visits, and transporting youth/materials as needed.
