Location: Remote – Mexico or United States
Schedule: Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week
The Institute for Development, Evaluation, Assistance & Solutions (IDEAS) is seeking an experienced Bilingual Fundraising & Grants Specialist to identify funding opportunities and develop competitive grant proposals supporting our economic and financial inclusion programs in Mexico.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience researching and identifying funding opportunities, assessing donor alignment and eligibility, and writing successful grant proposals. Most proposals will be written in English.
IDEAS is an international nonprofit with 50 years of experience in sustainable economic and enterprise development across four continents. In Mexico, our work promotes economic and financial inclusion among migrants, refugees, returned Mexican migrants, women entrepreneurs, and micro- and small-business owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and identify funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, government programs, and other institutional donors in the United States, Mexico, Canada, and internationally.
- Evaluate donor priorities, eligibility requirements, giving history, and alignment with IDEAS' programs.
- Write, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, concept notes, and related application materials.
- Adapt proposals to the priorities, terminology, and requirements of each donor.
- Develop and contribute to IDEAS' fundraising strategy and funding pipeline.
- Build and maintain relationships with foundations, donors, and potential funding partners.
- Collaborate with IDEAS' program team to translate activities, outcomes, and impact into strong funding proposals.
- Support and coordinate with other fundraising consultants as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in grant research/prospecting and grant writing.
- Strong track record identifying relevant funding opportunities and developing competitive proposals.
- Excellent professional writing skills in English.
- Ability to research donors and assess strategic fit, eligibility, and funding potential.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, international environment.
- Professional proficiency in Spanish and English.
- Interest in economic development, entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, migration, or related fields.
Experience working with U.S. foundations and 501(c)(3) organizations, international fundraising, donor databases or prospect-research platforms, and programs serving migrant or economically underserved populations is highly valued.
