    Hours: ~15–25 hrs/month (flexible)

    Compensation: $30–40/hr or $750–1,000/month retainer

    About Us

The Way Home helps individuals and churches heal, rebuild trust, and take their next steps after spiritual harm. We're a small, donor-supported 501(c)(3) with active communities on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. We need a reliable creative partner to keep our content fresh, scheduled, and consistent. We're looking for a long-term creative partner, not a one-off contractor.

    What You'll Do

    Content Creation & Support

Reflective and teaching content comes from our team. You'll shape our published material and build resource and event content, and each planning session sets who's making what. You'll have access to our voice guide, brand assets, and content library so your work sounds like us.

    • Adapt our published material (website pages, blog posts, event recaps, co-founder reflections) into carousels and posts for each platform
    • Create short-form content: Instagram Stories, event reminders, resource highlights, and polls
    • Create Instagram Stories 3–5x/week (behind-the-scenes, resource highlights, encouragements, event reminders, poll/question stickers)
    • Occasional Facebook Stories for event announcements or time-sensitive updates
    • Use Canva for graphics (we'll provide templates and brand assets)

    Scheduling & Planning

    • Batch-schedule 2–4 weeks ahead across FB, IG, and LinkedIn using Buffer
    • Build and maintain a content calendar (4+ weeks out) aligned to our goals and values, particularly right-naming (using accurate, non-minimizing language about spiritual abuse and its effects), to broaden our reach, share resources, raise donor awareness, and build community
    • Optimize posting times per platform based on analytics

    Planning Sessions

    • Weekly for the first month (30 min), then biweekly (1 hr) as we find our rhythm
    • Use these to map the upcoming calendar, decide who's creating what, review what's working, and adjust

    Community Care

    • Monitor comments and DMs regularly; reply to routine messages in our voice (we'll provide tone guidance and examples)
    • Flag personal stories, sensitive questions, or criticism to our team the same day. You won't be asked to respond to disclosures or provide care.
    • Flag any Buffer/Meta publishing issues and reconnect channels as needed

    Language & Approval

    • Precision matters. Our work centers on people recovering from spiritual abuse. The words we use, and don't use, directly affect whether people feel seen and safe. You'll receive a language guide (approved terms, terms to avoid, tone notes) before your first post.
    • All content is reviewed before scheduling. We'll often edit language directly in your drafts. That's part of how we keep our words precise, not a mark against your work.
    • Already-approved material (published blogs, website content, co-founder reflections) can be reformatted without review. Any trimming, reordering, or rewording comes back to us first.
    • Instagram Stories should be consistent with our established visual style (we'll share examples). New formats get a one-time review.
    • We aim to keep the approval loop fast (24–48 hours). Batch your submissions so we can review in one pass rather than piecemeal.

    What You Won't Do

    • Serve as the sole content creator — this is a collaborative, support role
    • Respond to personal disclosures or provide pastoral care
    • Manage paid advertising
    • Handle website or email marketing
    • Produce long-form video or podcast content

    What We're Looking For

    • Experience creating and managing social media for a nonprofit, ministry, or mission-driven organization
    • Familiarity with Buffer and Canva (or willingness to learn quickly)
    • Comfort with the sensitive, trauma-informed tone of our work. You'll be representing a community of survivors.
    • Strong eye for visual consistency and storytelling in short-form content
    • Reliable, self-directed, and communicative
    • Portfolio or examples of social media accounts you've managed

    Nice-to-Haves

    • Experience with faith-based or mental health/trauma-informed organizations
    • Basic video editing (CapCut, InShot, or similar) for short clips/Reels
    • Understanding of LinkedIn's professional audience

    What We Provide

    • Access to our Buffer account, Canva workspace, and all three social channels
    • Brand voice guide, language guide, tone guidance, design templates, and content guidelines
    • Ongoing source content from our team (notes, blog posts, event recaps, co-founder reflections) ready to be shaped for social
    • Clear expectations and a low-touch management style between planning sessions
