    The National Alliance to End Homelessness (Alliance) is a leading nonpartisan, nonprofit organization committed to preventing and ending homelessness in the United States. The Alliance works in partnership with federal, state, and local stakeholders—including policymakers, service providers, researchers, advocates, and people with lived experience—to promote data-driven, evidence-based, and racially equitable solutions to homelessness.

    What we are looking for:

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and eager Communications Associate to support our communications team with a broad range of tasks that help bring our mission to life. This is an early-career role for someone who is passionate about communications and excited to contribute across a variety of functions. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and proofreader, comfortable working in fast-paced environments, and enthusiastic about supporting a mission-driven team. They bring a collaborative spirit and a willingness to learn and grow.

    What you will do:

    The Communications Associate will support the communications team with document preparation, web publication, design, and administrative tasks, playing an important behind-the scenes role in helping the Alliance communicate effectively.

    Content & Editorial Support

    • Lead proofreading and editing to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality across communications materials.
    • Assist with web publication, including uploading and formatting materials on the Alliance's website.

    Design & Visual Support

    • Support design needs, including formatting documents, creating graphics, and supporting the production of print and digital materials.
    • Coordinate with staff and vendors to support visual consistency across organizational materials.

    Administrative & Team Support

    • Take notes and support coordination for communications team meetings and relevant cross-team convenings.
    • Perform other duties as requested to support team operations and organizational needs.

    What a successful candidate will need:

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Exceptional attention to detail with strong proofreading and editing skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Familiarity with content management systems and Wordpress publishing tools.
    • Basic experience with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar platforms.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
    • Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable taking initiative in a team environment.
    • Passion for the Alliance's mission to end homelessness is a plus.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Communications, English, Marketing, or a related field.
    • Equivalent work experience combined with lived experience of homelessness will be considered.
    • 1–2 years of experience in communications, editorial, or a related support role; internship experience will be considered.

    The Alliance’s salary ranges are designed to support growth and advancement within each role. Starting salaries typically fall above the lower end of the posted range but do not exceed the midpoint. Salaries above the midpoint at hire are uncommon. Final salary offers are based on a candidate’s relevant experience and demonstrated expertise.
