The Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless (ECHH) is dedicated to serving the homeless and housing-insecure of Union County by ending their immediate crises through advocacy and services. The Development Associate will support the fundraising department and will have a key role in all fundraising, donor engagement, volunteer opportunities, events, and communications activities at ECHH. In partnership with the Development Manager, this role will ensure our philanthropic growth and elevate the organization’s visibility.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising
- Manage donor database to ensure accurate and thorough record-keeping
- Process donations and prepare acknowledgment letters and other correspondence
- Generate monthly fundraising reports and dashboards
- Maintain foundation, corporation, and individual donor files
- Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate, foundation, and individual donors
- Reconcile donations with the Finance Department monthly
Communications
- Facilitate donor communications, including acknowledgments, letters, emails, and newsletters
- Manage social media channels, including content generation and interaction
- Coordinate production and dissemination of donor campaigns
Events
- Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events
- Handle administrative details associated with the event committees and planning (i.e., prepare and distribute notices, agendas, minutes, refreshments, etc.)
- Maintain guest lists, gather and prepare registration materials, and other duties as assigned for fundraising events.
- Support procurement and management of raffle donations
Other Duties
- Manage volunteer database, including the collection and tracking of hours
- Provide excellent customer service to donors and efficient responses to inquiries
- Collaborate with other staff and organizations.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Fund Development Manager
Qualifications
- At least one year of experience in nonprofit fundraising
- Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree, or certification in development preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and donor management software
- Strong competence with social media and digital platforms
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Experience with Bonterratech (formerly Network for Good) preferred
- Experience in the homelessness or affordable housing field is preferred.
- Commitment to our mission of ending homelessness in Union County is a must
Working Conditions
- Reports to Fund Development Manager
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed (both for ECHH events and for other networking/stewardship opportunities).
- Hybrid (remote) work is permitted, with a schedule and expectations to be developed with the Fund Development Manager.
