    Job Title: Part-Time Maintenance (Security Licensed)

    Location: Bronx Office: 8 Clinton Place Bronx, NY 10453

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    Model: In Person, Monday-Thursday (8:30am-1:00pm), Friday (8:30am-1:00pm)

    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the general upkeep, safety, and operations of NMIC’s physical facilities. The maintenance personnel plays an important role in assisting the Operations team. Maintenance cross trains with security as there is a need to provide proper coverage in the schedule. This maintenance position also requires participation in the Emergency Action Plan in case of a fire or non-fire emergency.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Maintenance Responsibilities

    • Clean building and grounds daily at NMIC’s Bronx office to provide an effective working environment, prevent damage, and/or limit liability exposure (cleaning will be completed based on a daily schedule with assigned floors and tasks such as moping, sweeping, collecting and disposing of trash, water filter cleaning,). Provide similar services at NMIC’s Main office and provide coverage when other team members are on PTO.
    • Perform outdoor custodial duties such as snow and ice removal, including evenings or weekends as required (in the main office and Bronx office).

    • Inspect the entire building daily for safety violations and/or situations requiring immediate action (e.g., light replacement, bathroom issues, elevator problems, etc.). Report these situations to the Operations Manager and implement timely repairs and corrective action when necessary.
    • Routinely inspect NMIC facilities and equipment to determine the adequacy and safety of the work environment, and the amount of maintenance needed. When required, perform assigned repairs and preventive maintenance procedures on building equipment.
    • In conjunction with the Operations Manager, develop a plan to enhance NMIC’s physical structure and environment for staff and clients. This may include (but is not limited to) painting, cleaning, repairs, washing walls, floor tiling, picture hanging, furniture relocation, window washing, etc.
    • HVAC/Water cooler/Air Purifier filter replacement
    • Adjust HVAC settings on thermostats
    • Assist as Building Supervisor during non-business hours as per the Emergency Action Plan (Attend certification trainings, exams)-Main Office
    • Know how to operate the Fire Alarm Panel (Training will be provided)-Main Office
    • Assist with the Fire Safety Brigade, participate and execute fire drills-Main Office
    • Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.
    • Recommend purchases for building and maintenance supplies, machinery, equipment, and furniture.

    Security Responsibilities

    • Will be NYS Security Licensed to provide coverage for security team during breaks, PTO, and emergencies. (Licensing fees will be covered by NMIC)
    • Assist as Building Supervisor during non-business hours as per the Emergency Action Plan (Attend certification trainings, exams)-Main Office
    • Know how to operate the Fire Alarm Panel (Training will be provided)-Main Office
    • Welcome and greet guests warmly and professionally
    • Direct client traffic to designated programs and staff quickly and efficiently.
    • Check in clients and students by confirming they are scheduled on the “Client Access Scheduler”
    • Provide basic program information to clients, visitors, or anyone inquiring.
    • Communicate with agency wide staff regarding any questions by O365 email, Teams Chat, and/or company phone.
    • Implement and execute agency policies and procedures
    • Submit written reports (e.g. incident reports) as required
    • Attend department and agency wide meetings as scheduled and yearly security certification courses.
    • When covering opening shifts, maintenance will be responsible for confirming that the following are in working order, internet, phones, HVAC before staff comes in for the day.
    • Additional related responsibilities may be assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Criminal background check required.
    • At least one year of experience, or equivalent training and experience, in maintenance.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to problem-solve and think creatively.
    • Ability to perform duties independently and with limited supervision.
    • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
    • Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred.
    • Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively
    • Strong customer service skills and ability to maintain poise and self-control under stress
    • Work well when supervisors are not present
    • Ability to lift at least 10lbs or more
    • Certification in any of the following is a plus:
    • First-Aid/CPR/AED (American Heart Association/ American Red Cross)
    • Chemical Agent Certification (Hand-Held)
    • Expandable Baton Certification
    • F01, F89, Deputy Fire Safety Director Certification specifically for 45 Wadsworth building (as per need of the Emergency Action Plan and building code)

    SALARY/BENEFITS: NMIC offers a competitive salary based on experience and education as well as a comprehensive and generous benefits package: medical, dental, life, and disability insurance are included; paid time off consisting of 20 vacation days, 15 sick days, 5 personal days, 11 agency holidays, plus the week off from Christmas Eve through New Year's Day; a 401k with agency contribution; and other benefits.
