ABOUT BEAM CENTER
Beam Center is a radically trusting learning community that empowers young people to build,
create, and collaborate on ambitious projects while developing the skills and confidence to
shape their futures. We work with over 5,000 youth annually across NYC's five boroughs
through school partnerships, apprenticeship programs, youth employment enterprises, and
summer camps. Our work spans from our headquarters in Red Hook, Brooklyn, to our workshop
on Governors Island, and our sleep-away camp in Strafford, New Hampshire.
In addition to nurturing youth, we cultivate a thriving community of like-minded peers and
mentors who encourage each other’s ambitions and passions. High levels of staff support is a
signature element of our model. Beam offers staff and participants opportunities to take creative
risks, to learn new skills, and to collaborate on big projects in unique ways.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Beam Center is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Coordinator to strengthen the
systems and processes that support our staff and programs. Reporting to the Director of Staff &
Operations, this role manages payroll, employee onboarding, benefits administration,

Beam employs a large and dynamic workforce of full-time, part-time, seasonal, and youth staff,
with hiring and payroll activity increasing significantly during the late spring and summer
