Children's Network of Solano County

The Children's Network of Solano County is a nonprofit advocacy, education, and convening organization. We work collaboratively to ensure the health, education, safety, and financial security of children and families throughout Solano County.

Position Summary

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of Children’s Network of Solano County and is responsible for advancing the organization’s mission, strategic priorities, and community impact. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director leads organizational management, communications, fundraising, and program development, including countywide child abuse prevention efforts and provides staff leadership for the Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC).

Essential Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership and Governance

Work with the Board of Directors to establish the organization’s vision, policies, and strategic priorities. Translate priorities into measurable plans, support effective governance, supervise staff, foster a collaborative and accountable workplace culture, and oversee day-to-day operations.

Fundraising and Resource Development

Lead extensive fundraising, grant writing, donor relations, and resource development activities. Implement a diversified fundraising strategy, cultivate funder relationships, ensure timely grant reporting, and work with the Board to support long-term financial sustainability.

Program, Administration, and Financial Management

Oversee programs, contracts, grants, budgets, and communications. Develop and monitor the annual budget, maintain fiscal controls, report to the Board, ensure compliance, and use data to strengthen program quality and organizational effectiveness.

Child Abuse Prevention and Systems Coordination

Lead countywide child abuse prevention planning and serve as staff lead to the Child Abuse Prevention Council. Convene public agencies, family resource centers, community organizations, schools, healthcare providers, and law enforcement to align strategies, address service gaps, and strengthen coordinated, family-centered prevention efforts.

Community Leadership

Serve as the organization’s public spokesperson and advocate for children and families throughout Solano County. Build relationships with elected officials, funders, community organizations, and residents to advance children’s programs, monitor relevant legislation, and represent the organization in public forums.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Public Policy, Human Services, Nonprofit Management, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum five years of leadership experience in nonprofit, public-sector, or community-based organizations serving children and families, including child abuse prevention, child welfare, family services, public health, or a related field.
• Three to five years of experience leading or participating in a Child Abuse Prevention Council, Multidisciplinary Team, or similar collaborative effort preferred.
• Experience working within California child welfare, family-serving, or public health systems.
• Experience leading cross-sector partnerships or systems-change initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated success in grant writing, fundraising, and resource development.
• Knowledge of child abuse prevention, child welfare, family strengthening, Child Protective Services, foster care systems, mandated reporting requirements, and the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act.
• Experience implementing evidence-based prevention models, including the Strengthening Families Framework and Five Protective Factors.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, organizational development, and program evaluation skills.
• Ability to facilitate diverse stakeholder groups and build consensus.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills.
• Knowledge of legislative and public policy processes affecting children and families.
• Strong financial management and budgeting skills.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $85,000 to $105,000 per year, commensurate with experience. We offer a generous benefits package that includes employer-covered health insurance for employees and children, vacation, sick leave and other PTO, shared dental and a match to our 403(b) plan. Total compensation package of $140,000.
