The Museum of Human Achievement (MoHA) is seeking a collaborative, highly organized, and mission-driven Events Manager to coordinate, produce, and support the wide range of public programs, performances, workshops, and rentals that take place at MoHA. This full-time role plays an essential part in supporting our programs, staff, facilities, and community.
The Events Manager will lead MoHA’s event coordination processes for internal (staff-driven) and external (community organizer-driven) programs/events, manage pre-production and on-site production, support earned revenue through rentals, and help maintain clear communication across staff, organizers, artists, and partners. The Events Manager reports to the Program Director and works with the Facilities/Production Manager. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, DIY arts environment and enjoys hands-on problem solving in dynamic situations.
Strengthen MoHA’s programs, partnerships, and sustainability through thoughtful, organized, and community-centered event management.
The ideal candidate has experience in event production, scheduling, contractor coordination, and communication with artists and community organizers. Prior experience in all job duties is a plus; however, we are willing to provide training and support where needed.
We are looking for a candidate in Austin ready for immediate start who is able to commute to MoHA.
The schedule is Tues-Sat with evening/weekend event shifts 1-2 times per week. During your first two months (aka provisional period) we expect regular, on-site hours. Once established in the role, some flexible work location and hours may be determined with your supervisor, with expected availability for on-site meetings and events.
Shared office space will be provided at MoHA. Having your own laptop is nice but not necessary (we have computers on site). Some local travel for meetings and events may be required.
We highly encourage Black, Indigenous, Latine and POC applicants and those with diverse gender and sexual identities—including those who may come from non-traditional employment backgrounds. We welcome any questions about this position from potential applicants before or during the application process.
