Shakespeare Theatre Company, located in in the heart of Washington DC's vibrant Penn Quarter neighborhood, is seeking an Associate Director of Rentals and Events to join our General Management Department. This position manages the day-to-day sales and execution of rentals and external events in all STC’s spaces, including our two theaters and rehearsal halls, from initial conversation through event execution and settlement. Reporting to the General Manager, this position will market, recruit, and sell the event and performance spaces for business, industry, consumer, government, and performing arts events to meet and exceed budgetary goals. The Associate Director will work closely with dedicated production and front of house teams to operate all events and will shepherd the entire client experience through each event's successful completion from inquiry through execution and final billing. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits and an annual salary of $67,000 - $72,000.
The ideal candidate will be a creative, entrepreneurial professional with the ability to successfully work across teams and departments with exceptional sales and hospitality skills. They will be an independent, confident sales professional and/or event manager with an understanding of theatrical and non-theatrical events and a flexible nature. This position requires a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and 3- 5 years of experience; candidates with sales, event, and hospitality career experience are encouraged to apply including catering account executives, hotel sales leaders, and destination marketing professionals. Familiarity with performing arts management, including contracting and budgeting, theatrical production, and a passion for the arts preferred. This position will work primarily on-site, with the opportunity for some remote work from time to time.
