    You could help funders and nonprofits make life better for nonprofit staff by assisting with the Upgrading Nonprofit Workplaces study!

    The intern will assist the Research Director by:

    • Researching nonprofit organizations and funders that have adopted practices aimed at improving nonprofit job quality.
    • "Cleaning" transcripts of interviews to match the audio recordings.
    • Maintaining a database of potential interviewees and collaborators.
    • If skills allow, conducting interviews with stakeholders at nonprofits and funders.
    • Managing data, such as interview transcripts and online research materials.
    • Assisting in analyzing data using qualitative analysis software (training in NVivo will be provided); suggesting themes for case studies.
    • Editing draft research publications.
    • Researching relevant conferences to maintain an updated conference calendar.
    • Assisting with tech for online events.
    • and other tasks as needed

    Internship contracts are on a semester-by-semester basis, for a minimum of 9 and maximum of 12 weeks, 6 to 12 hours a week. Currently we are looking for an intern who can work in both fall and spring semesters.

    REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS

    • Demonstrated commitment to economic justice, intersectional anti-racism, and progressive change.
    • Experience with online research.
    • Detail oriented, with experience in entering and keeping track of detailed information.
    • Proficient Google apps sheets, drive and slides, and at Zoom functions such as screen-sharing.
    • Fairly error-free writing and editing skills.
    • Comfort with conducting email outreach and following up to encourage participation.

    Helpful additional qualities: Personal experience working low-paid nonprofit jobs or working for a funder, and/or passion for improving nonprofit pay and working conditions; Experience with proofreading written texts; Experience in interviewing strangers, especially in a social science context; graphics skills (e.g. Canva, video editing).
