Position Title: Clubhouse Generalist
Location: Long Island City, NY OR Bronx, NY (Vacancies available in either location)

Reports To: Clubhouse Director
General Purpose:
Provide psychosocial rehabilitation services to adults with psychiatric disabilities and co-occurring substance use disorders within an accredited mental health clubhouse setting. Through shared decision-making, staff work side by side and in partnership with clubhouse members to facilitate the daily operations of the clubhouse. Assisting members with the skills and resources needed in the areas of daily adult living, working, learning, and socializing.
Essential Functions:
- Engage and assist Clubhouse members in reaching their recovery goals by providing person-centered supports.
- Each staff is responsible for coordinating aspects of the work that are integral to the operation of the Clubhouse (i.e., meal planning & preparation, intake, employment & education, program marketing and resource building, clubhouse cleanliness, and accurate record keeping).
- Oversee assigned Clubhouse unit & develop methods to enhance unit functioning.
- Engage members and work side by side with members in carrying out unit tasks. Facilitate community/unit meetings daily.
- Manage member case records and documentation via the electronic health files, and secure private health information.
- Engage members through outreach & encouragement, with a focus on their strengths, abilities and interests.
- Establish working relationships with members within the Clubhouse community to support their experiences as valued participants in the community.
- Connect members to community resources to meet individual needs (i.e. employment, housing, benefits, legal and treatment).
- Coordinate and participate in opportunities for social and recreational activities within and outside of the clubhouse.
- Work cooperatively with staff & members in developing Clubhouse policies and in advancing the purposes and welfare of the Clubhouse as a whole.
- Impart to members with a vision of their potential to achieve aspirations through acceptance and empathy that is not restricted by disability but is based on needs common to all people seeking employment, education, housing, and social involvements.
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited school in related field required.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
- Experience working with a vulnerable population in need of mental health, vocational or substance use rehabilitation preferred.
- Must have aptitude for computers and have a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, as well Microsoft Teams.
- Ability to effectively carry out responsibilities in a communal setting comprised of people experiencing the effects of mental illness.
- Have the capability and flexibility of handling and juggling the multiplicity of activities and demands occurring in the group setting.
- Convey a vibrant energy that attracts members and enables engagement.
Scope of Responsibility & Positions Supervised:
- Depending on assigned unit staff will either:
A) Function with a general knowledge and ability to facilitate support as an Employment & Education Generalist, Communications Generalist, and Intake Generalist as needed
B) Provide resourceful case management -level referrals and general administrative and counseling support to assigned and any other clubhouse member in need
C) Be responsible for the financial operations of the assigned unit under the direction of the Program Director and/or
D) Be responsible for the management of kitchen and food aspects of the Clubhouse. If in culinary unit, Food Handlers Certification is preferred
Special Working Conditions:
- Some shared Saturdays work required.
- One late night shift at 11a - 7p may be required.
- Program is opened on all holidays.
- Attend two weeks of required clubhouse training at a certified training base outside of New York State.
