    Descrição

    Summary

    The New York Society Library seeks a Technical Production Assistant to support all audio-visual needs for the Library’s events including recording and editing of event videos. This position reports to the Director of Programming & Communications.

    The Library is a historic membership library founded in 1754. It is open to all for reading, reference, and selected events, with circulation and other services by subscription. The beautiful landmark building dates from 1917 and includes reading rooms, spaces for study, book stacks, a Children's Library, and the Assunta, Ignazio, Ada and Romano Peluso Exhibition Gallery. The Library has approximately 300,000 print volumes and hosts a variety of special events, reading groups, and workshops, as well as the New York City Book Awards.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    • Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, computer proficiency
    • Scheduling flexibility
    • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision
    • A cooperative and people-oriented temperament
    • Bachelor’s Degree; 1-2 years of related experience

    Duties and responsibilities

    Perform all tasks needed to

    • set up and break down audio-visual equipment before and after events
    • amplify presenters and show slides/media live at events
    • livestream and record events
    • edit and post recordings online

    Including

    • Receive presenter slides/display items, set them up on Library equipment, test/adapt formats
    • Work with presenters to use their laptop with the Library’s projector or equivalent
    • A/V setup for major events (microphones, recording, livestream)
    • Event technology configuration
    • Live operation and troubleshooting
    • Recording management
    • Post-production editing
    • Publish and archive recordings
    • Equipment maintenance and organization

    Provide general event staffing and operational support for occasional programs, including some receptions, awards ceremonies, and space rentals.

    Perform related duties as assigned in support of departmental operations and Library communications and programming.

    Maintain compliance with all Library policies and procedures.

    Working conditions

    Part-time, 10 hours per week, including varied evenings and weekends as required, both during and outside of the Library’s open hours. Schedule subject to change. Quiet conditions.

    Physical/Environmental Requirements

    Physical

    • Sitting: 60-80%
    • Standing/Walking: 20-40%
    • Lifting: Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
    • Vision: Normal. Requires long periods of work at computers.

    Environmental

    Indoor environment; Working closely with others and independently. Occasional exposure to dust and mold.

    Salary and Benefits

    Compensation: $22.00-$30.00 an hour depending on experience, and 403(b) defined contribution plan, flexible benefits plan, and sick time.
