The Finance Team of the Jazz Foundation of America is growing and we are looking for a part-time bookkeeper (24 hours/week). The Jazz Foundation is a non-profit that assists jazz and blue musicians by providing emergency assistance and performance opportunities. This positon will require reporting to the office for the first few months and then can be hybrid (a combination of working from home and being in the office). Responsibilities for Bookkeeper
- Conduct reconciliation of all accounts on a monthly basis
- Maintain and balance the general ledger in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner
- Perform all activities related to the accounts payable function including reviewing, coding, and processing payments
- Perform account receivable functions including invoicing, deposits, collections, and revenue recognition
- Prepare financial reports through collection, analysis, and summarization of data
- Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work in order to ensure compliance with applicable standards
- Files invoices and financial documentations in a neat and timely manner
- Assist CFO and Finance Manager with the yearly audit and provide further assistance when needed
- Provide ad hoc reports for staff
Qualifications for Bookkeeper
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3-5 years relevant experience working in accounting and bookkeeping
- Non-profit accounting experience preferred but not required
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient skills in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
- Proficient working with databases and a team player
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong analytical skills
