    About Swipe Out Hunger: Swipe Out Hunger is the national nonprofit powering the movement to end college student hunger. Swipe Out Hunger collaborates with colleges, legislators, and the greater community to address student food insecurity by championing hunger solutions, building an active network of campuses and partners, and evolving the narrative around today’s college students.     Position Summary

    Swipe Out Hunger is seeking a creative, mission-driven Digital & Social Media Coordinator to elevate our online presence and deepen engagement with our community. This role will split time between:

    • Social media management: helping to plan, create, publish, and track content that brings Swipe Out Hunger’s mission and student voices to life across platforms, and
    • Digital communications: collaborating with External Affairs staff to support the production of branded digital materials that uplift student voices, our programs, and our impact.

    This position is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of creativity, strategy, and collaboration—someone who understands how digital storytelling can shape public understanding, uplift student and partner voices, and drive systemic change to end college hunger.

    Responsibilities and Tasks

    Social Media (60%)

    • Manage and grow Swipe Out Hunger’s social media presence across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and other emerging platforms, including direct interaction with our audiences though comments, DMs, and tags.
    • Create, schedule, and publish engaging, accessible, and mission-aligned content that builds community and awareness.
    • Partner with the External Communications Manager to align social content with overall communications, advocacy, and narrative change strategies.
    • Support the implementation of Swipe’s narrative change campaign, including producing digital assets, coordinating rollout timelines, and tracking engagement metrics.
    • Identify and maintain videos and photographs for use in social media content.
    • Monitor analytics and generate regular reports to inform strategy and optimize engagement.
    • Support campaign launches, virtual events, and advocacy activations through digital storytelling on social media.
    • Maintain Swipe’s brand voice and visual consistency across platforms.

    Digital Content (40%)

    In collaboration with the Asset and Design Manager:

    • Support the production of branded digital content, ensuring materials align with Swipe Out Hunger’s visual identity and messaging standards (including event invitations, digital assets, toolkits, etc.)
    • Collaborate on the creation of digital materials and communications projects that uplift Swipe’s programs, advocacy efforts, and storytelling work
    • Contribute to the maintenance of the organization’s storybank and support story distribution in digital assets.
    • Assist in preparing and formatting digital toolkits, social shareables, and partner-facing materials.
    • Manage the general Swipe Out Hunger contact inbox via CRM
    • Other responsibilities, such as editing, copy, design, as assigned.
    • Stay up-to-date on design trends, accessibility standards, and emerging digital tools that can enhance content quality and reach.

    Other duties as assigned such as attending All Team meetings, All Team in-person work sessions, conferences, and other work internal and external to Swipe Out Hunger.

    Qualifications

    • 2-3 years of professional experience in social media management, digital communications, or content creation.
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher education experience that aligns with Swipe Out Hunger’s mission and the role.
    • Demonstrated ability to create engaging social content across multiple platforms.
    • Strong graphic design and video editing skills using tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
    • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to tone, clarity, and accessibility.
    • Experience with social media scheduling and analytics tools (e.g., Later, Sprout, or Meta Business Suite).
    • Familiarity with HubSpot Marketing or similar CRM tools is a plus.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects.
    • Commitment to equity-centered storytelling and amplifying underrepresented voices.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary of $65,000. Swipe Out Hunger provides a supportive benefits package, including:

    • 100% coverage for employee medical, dental, and vision insurance
    • 401(k) retirement matching after six months of tenure
    • Flexible work schedule and remote work opportunities
    • Professional development stipend of $500 annually
    • A $400 “Work Comfortably from Home” fund during your first year

    This is a full-time, exempt position. Swipe Out Hunger provides a supportive benefits package, including 100% coverage for employees and 25% coverage for dependents. This includes medical, dental, and vision benefits, 401K retirement matching after 6 months tenure, flex time, a $500/year professional development stipend, and an annual ‘Work Comfortably from Home’ fund.

    Part 1: Video Screener Application

    The hiring manager will select candidates to submit a questions video screener to support their application. Design, social media or other portfolio examples may be requested.

    Part 2: Virtual Interviews via Zoom with Hiring Manager(s)

    Virtual interviews will be with the hiring manager(s). We will share specific details as the interview day approaches.

    Part 3: Follow-up Interview with members of the Swipe Out Hunger staff

    We will invite finalist candidates to a focused follow-up conversation to dig deeper into specific themes and topics from the virtual interview day and writing sample.

    Part 4: Reference Checks, Offer Extended

    Swipe Out Hunger will ask for 3-4 references per finalist, though we often ask for more.
