The Washington Power Building Table (PBT) is an alignment of organizations working together to build statewide progressive power in low-income communities and communities of color through grassroots organizing, electoral work, issue advocacy, and narrative change. The table includes 6 basebuilding organizations: Firelands Workers United/Trabajadores Unidos, OneAmerica Votes, Progreso: Latino Progress, The Washington Bus, Washington Community Action Network, and Working Washington, and is supported by Washington Community Alliance.
The PBT is seeking a Field Manager to help lead implementation of PBT’s shared 2026 fi eld program. The Field Manager is intended to amplify electoral capacity at PBT member organizations. The person in this role should ensure that PBT organizations can execute collaborative, disciplined, high-impact voter contact work across multiple organizations and geographies. The Field Manager will run and implement direct voter contact programs, train volunteers, track goals, strengthen accountability, expand capacity, and support collaboration among member organizations.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Shared Field Program Execution & Development (65% of time)
- Implement PBT’s shared 2026 fi eld plan through planning and executing direct voter contact events in the PBT’s priority geographies, including:
- Door-knocking canvasses
- In-person phone banks
- Virtual phone banks
- Volunteer outreach events
- Coordinate canvass turnout and logistics for staff and members across participating PBT organizations.
- Provide training and coaching to PBT staff and members participating in electoral fi eld and basebuilding work, and help PBT staff to effectively recruit and train volunteers.
- Ensure that fi eld activity on the PBT’s shared priority races uses shared PBT messaging, scripts, tactics, protocols, and data systems.
- Conduct weekday canvasses and voter outreach directly to meet goals; knock > 240 doors a week and achieve a contact rate of at least 15%.
- Support PBT Manager and PBT electoral staff to co-create practical fi eld plans, timelines, metrics, and weekly goals, including attending regular electoral team meetings.
- Support communication among PBT electoral staff and PBT organizations writ large.
Accountability & Metrics (20% of time)
- Track progress toward shared goals such as:
- Doors knocked
- Calls made
- Conversations completed
- Volunteers recruited
- Volunteer leaders developed
- Maintain regular reporting systems for PBT electoral staff and organizations.
- Help build a culture of follow-through and accountability across PBT organizations.
Narrative and Basebuilding Alignment (15% of time)
- Regularly communicate with PBT narrative staff to ensure scripts and voter contact materials align with PBT’s broader values and campaign messaging.
- Gather fi eld feedback that can improve messaging over time and share with PBT narrative staff.
- Regularly communicate with PBT organizing and basebuilding staff to help volunteer base absorption and retention practices and connections align with PBT’s broader organizing and basebuilding tactics.
- Support organizational base absorption in target geographies; help volunteers learn how to do fi eld work, take leadership in fi eld work, and move into deeper leadership roles through PBT organizations.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Experience implementing electoral or issue-based fi eld programs, including canvassing and phone banking.
- Experience with voter fi le/campaign data tools such as VAN, EveryAction, Scale to Win, etc.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating across multiple stakeholders.
- Strong communication, trust-building, and relationship-building skills.
- Commitment to racial justice, economic justice, and community powerbuilding.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends during peak campaign periods.
- Access to reliable transportation and willingness to travel for a fl exible campaign schedule, including frequent evenings, weekends, and high activity periods from September to November.
- Experience working in coalition or multi-organization settings.
- Experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers.
- Spanish language profi ciency or multilingual skills.
- Emotional resiliency which enables conversation about heavy and complex topics, including with strangers.
- Familiarity with Washington State politics and communities, especially revenue/tax policy and Central Washington/Yakima and Benton Counties.
- Experience developing volunteer leaders, especially from historically marginalized communities.
POSITION LOGISTICS
Status: Full-Time (40/hrs/wk) Temporary Contract, with oversight by the PBT Manager and Progreso Term: June – November 2026 Compensation: $6,500/month Location: Washington State; regular travel required, especially to Yakima County, Benton County, South King County, and Grays Harbor County. The position has a combination of hybrid/remote administrative work with in-person fi eld expectations.
