    Part-Time Foundation Relations Manager

    Location: Virtual

    Position Overview

    We are seeking a highly organized and resourceful Part-Time Foundation Relations Manager to play a critical role in advancing our mission through research and patient advocacy initiatives. This part-time, remote role is responsible for developing and managing a robust portfolio of Foundation and institutional funders, aligning opportunities with organizational priorities in research, patient support, education, and access to care. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and relationship builder who can communicate complex health issues with clarity and compassion.

    About Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation

    The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (CCF) is the only U.S.-based nonprofit organization solely focused on cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer), a rare but aggressive disease that affects approximately 15,000 people annually in the United States. Founded in 2006 in Salt Lake City by a family who lost a loved one to this devastating cancer, CCF has grown into a global leader in patient support, education, advocacy, and research funding.

    Driven by its core values—patients first, collaboration, innovation, and urgency—CCF operates in a fast-paced environment, mobilizing resources and expertise worldwide to accelerate progress. As a virtual organization with team members across the U.S. and internationally, CCF connects a global audience of patients, caregivers, clinicians, and researchers through cutting-edge programs and partnerships. The Foundation is recognized for advancing innovative research, championing patient-centered care, and responding with urgency to the needs of a growing and underserved community.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Grant Strategy & Management

    • Contribute to the development team’s revenue goal of over $10 million annually
    • Develop and implement a strategic plan to grow Foundation and institutional support at CCF to raise $500,000-$1m annually (subject to year-over-year increase)
    • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward Foundation partners, with a strong emphasis on grant writing and reporting.
    • Maintain a comprehensive grants calendar to track deadlines, reporting requirements, and renewal opportunities.
    • Develop tailored, data-driven proposals that align funder interests with programs in medical research and patient advocacy.
    • Manage application and reporting processes to ensure compliance with funder requirements.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to gather program data, budgets, program specifics, and impact stories required for proposals.
    • Work in close collaboration with Project Manager and department leads to ensure grant management is organized and all deliverables are timely.

    Relationship Building & Stewardship

    • Seek out relationships with funding institutions.
    • Cultivate and steward relationships with Foundation program officers and institutional donors.
    • Coordinate Foundation meetings, funder briefings, and special engagement opportunities.
    • Represent the organization professionally and persuasively to external audiences.
    • Draft high-quality reports that reflect both scientific rigor and human-centered impact.

    Research & Portfolio Development

    • Conduct ongoing research to identify new institutional funding prospects aligned with our mission.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date pipelines of institutional funders.
    • Identify and qualify new institutional funding opportunities aligned with our healthcare mission and strategic plan.
    • Monitor trends in medical philanthropy, health equity, and research funding to inform approach and messaging.

    Skills, Qualifications, Requirements

    Required

    • 3-5 years of experience in Foundation relations, grant writing, or institutional fundraising.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.
    • Demonstrated success in securing and managing grants of $25,000+ from private or corporate foundations.
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
    • Highly organized with strong project management skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
    • Ability to collaborate across departments and communicate effectively with program staff, finance, and leadership.
    • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Familiarity with fundraising databases (Raiser’s Edge preferred but not required) and research tools.
    • Ability to travel to Salt Lake City, UT, twice a year.
    • Successful completion of a background check.

    Additional Preferred Skills and Qualifications

    • Experience working in a small or growing nonprofit setting.
    • Knowledge of move management principles or donor pipeline development.
    • Basic knowledge of fundraising strategy, donor cycles, and stewardship best practices.
    • Ability to work virtually - this is a part-time, work-from-home position. Experience working in a virtual environment is preferred.
    • Familiar with project management software (ASANA preferred but not required).

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements

    • This is a fully remote position, requiring a dedicated, professional home office environment with reliable internet access.
    • The role involves prolonged periods of sitting, working on a computer, attending virtual meetings, and managing digital communications.
    • Flexibility to respond to time-sensitive issues during regular business hours.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced virtual environment.
    • Occasional travel is required for organizational events at least twice annually.

    COMPENSATION

    Salary Range: $35-38/hour, commensurate with experience and skill set.

    Benefits include A generous PTO package that includes paid winter break, and a 401(k).

    LOCATION

    The Foundation is a virtual organization. Candidates must reside in the United States and be authorized to work there. The selected candidate will be required to travel as needed.
