SHARE Cancer Support is a national nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that provides critical support for the emotional and practical challenges that come with a diagnosis of breast or gynecologic cancer, while also delivering life-saving information about signs, symptoms, and screenings through on-the-ground community education. Established in 1976, SHARE is committed to serving people of all races, cultures, backgrounds, and identities.
SHARE’s dedicated staff and volunteers—many of whom have faced their own diagnoses—understand the needs of the diverse communities we serve. We provide a comprehensive range of services in multiple languages, free of charge. We approach every situation with deep empathy, and every voice is welcome, valued, and heard. Our goal is to ensure that everyone has access to the support and information they need to feel connected, informed, and empowered as healthcare consumers because no one should face cancer alone.
Vice President, Development & Communications
Reporting to the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer (ED/CEO), the VP of Development & Communications (VP) serves as a member of SHARE’s senior leadership team and is responsible for developing an overarching strategy that elevates the organization’s brand and impact of its mission while ensuring the maintenance and growth of its revenue streams. In partnership with the ED/CEO, this position is responsible for overseeing all fundraising, partnership development, and communications activities. The successful candidate will collaborate with existing funders and forge new relationships to build SHARE's visibility, impact, and financial resources. The VP will design and implement a comprehensive plan for resource development with integrated communications strategies that ensure public awareness, brand consistency, and donor engagement.
The VP will have primary responsibility for the infrastructure needed to sustain and grow a $4.5 million budget through the solicitation of major gifts, city and state grants, special events, and corporate and foundation support. They will expand and diversify SHARE’s donor base/pipeline and work closely with other team members to secure funding for new initiatives. They will optimize the strength and impact of marketing and messaging with brand consistency across the website, social media, events, presentations, and print materials. In addition, the VP will work closely with the board of directors and support board members as they take on a more active fundraising role.
The VP will directly supervise a team of 5 development and communications professionals. The VP will also collaborate with program leadership while guiding and strengthening the development and communications team to effectively reinforce SHARE’s overall impact and growth.
