    ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

    House N2 Home (HN2H) is a nonprofit organization based in Washtenaw County, Michigan. Its mission is to restore dignity to individuals and families who have experienced homelessness by transforming their living spaces into comfortable, functional, comfortable, and welcoming homes. Utilizing donated and occasionally purchased furniture and household goods, HN2H volunteers work to create environments where individuals and families have the opportunity to thrive.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Volunteer Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the recruitment, training, and ongoing engagement of a team exceeding 225 active volunteers. This position is central to the organization, acting as a bridge between volunteers, staff, and training initiatives. The Coordinator ensures effective communication, alignment with HN2H’s mission, and supports the organization’s goal through exemplary organization and administrative support.

    This position is ideal for a self-motivated, detail-oriented, and mission-driven individual who excels at working with diverse groups and fostering a collaborative environment.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Volunteer Recruitment, Training, and Engagement

    • Recruit, screen, and onboard new volunteers
    • Coordinate volunteer assignments based on skills, interests, and availability
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, offering ongoing support and communication
    • Build partnerships with community businesses and institutions to expand volunteer support and increase available resources
    • Plan and facilitate training sessions, including registration, communication, and follow-up
    • Communicate regularly with volunteers for scheduling, support, updates, and feedback collection
    • Collaborate with operational teams to assess and address volunteer needs
    • Recognize and celebrate volunteer achievements, both ongoing and annually
    • Completes other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education & Experience

    • Associate’s degree or higher in Human Services or a related field
    • Experience in a nonprofit setting and/or working with underserved populations
    • Demonstrated management experience with volunteers and large groups (strongly preferred)
    • Competency in computer skills, data entry, and email; proficiency in computer productivity suites (i.e, Google Workspace or Microsoft Office) and volunteer management software

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including problem solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution
    • Dependable, professional, and highly organized with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
    • Capable of working independently and collaboratively as part of a team
    • Comfortable leading groups and engaging with individuals from diverse populations

    WORK ENVIRONMENT & REQUIREMENTS

    • Position is based in an older building on the Trinity Health campus, sharing office space with other management staff/volunteers
    • Occasional weekend work may be required
    • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and easily navigate the two floors and 30,000 sq ft of storage space
    • Dress code ranges from casual to business casual, depending on assigned duties
    • On-site availability required from 9:30 am – 2:30 pm
