    Job Title: Development Coordinator

    Full Time, 12-Month, Role Level 2

    Reports To: Sr. Director of Development

    YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School is a tuition-free, public charter high school, with a singular focus on supporting youth aged 17-20 who have been pushed out of traditional schools. During our 1-year alternative program, Youthbuild facilitates a warm, loving culture that uses a variety of structures to build community, such as a restorative-justice approach to discipline, weekly community meetings, and school-wide service projects. Students are empowered to attain their high school diploma and vocational certifications, while receiving unconditional support by the staff around them.     The Opportunity:

    YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School is seeking a highly organized, analytical, and motivated Development Coordinator to support our fundraising, donor engagement, and communications efforts. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development and working closely with the Director of Communications, the Development Coordinator will play a vital role in advancing YouthBuild Philly’s mission by strengthening the overall capacity and efficiency of the Development team. Key responsibilities include managing donor stewardship and gift acknowledgment, maintaining the donor database, coordinating fundraising campaigns and special events, and supporting grant submissions. The Coordinator will also facilitate donor communications by overseeing the production and distribution of email blasts, appeal mailings, and other outreach. In addition, they will manage regular content for social media and website updates, coordinate donor tours and site visits, track media mentions, and conduct prospect research.

    This role also requires strong analytical skills, as the Development Coordinator will be responsible for tracking progress toward fundraising goals, generating weekly progress reports, supporting board reporting, and helping the team stay organized and on target. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and able to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is preferred but not required.
    • 2-3 years of previous development operations, fundraising support, or relevant professional experience and a track record of successfully cultivating and stewarding relationships with individuals, preferred but not required
    • Proven ability to work independently on complex tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of individuals.
    • High level of confidentiality.

    What You’ll Do:

    You will support the following functions:

    • Develop and manage content across YouthBuild Philly’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X), while also supporting donor engagement through email campaigns, appeal mailings, and newsletters.
    • Coordinate and implement fundraising campaigns and events, collaborating across multiple departments, as well as with alumni and external vendors, to meet goals, timelines, and fundraising targets.
    • Draft press releases, blog posts, donor updates, and other public-facing content that elevates YouthBuild Philly’s visibility and mission.
    • Ensure timely and accurate gift processing and acknowledgment, maintaining donor data integrity in the CRM system (Bonterra).
    • Manage the department’s event and editorial calendar to ensure timely execution of campaigns, communications, and stewardship activities.
    • Track media coverage and digital engagement, maintain media and photo archives, and analyze communications metrics to inform strategy.
    • Generate regular fundraising progress reports, prepare updates for staff and board, and help keep the team aligned with development goals.
    • Conduct prospect research and support the drafting and submission of online funding proposals, sponsorship applications, and required reporting.
    • Track donor engagement and moves management activity to support thoughtful cultivation and stewardship strategies.
    • Coordinate and support donor tours, cultivation visits, and external engagement opportunities; maintain and organize digital assets; and contribute to brand-aligned storytelling that strengthens YouthBuild Philly’s overall brand presence.
    • Collaborate with and help onboard AmeriCorps VISTAs, interns, and volunteers supporting the Development and Communications team.
    • Uphold school culture and core values of Respect, Excellence and Perseverance.
    • Mentor 3-5 students and 2-3 alumni over the course of the school year to support their growth and success, as well as navigate challenges and barriers.
    • Participate in school-wide events such as community meetings, staff meetings, community service, parent/family nights, recruitment fairs, graduation, etc.
    • Other duties as assigned, within the parameters of supporting department and schoolwide goals and initiatives.

    New YouthBuild Coordinator level staff can expect a starting salary of between $46,000 - $60,500 based on years of experience, education, and certifications, if applicable.
