    Project for Public Spaces is seeking a Network Associate to join its team. The nonprofit organization has a mission of bringing public spaces to life by planning and designing them with the people who use them every day. We provide in-person events and networks to help professionals and advocates connect, learn, and support one another. Project for Public Spaces is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025.

    The ideal candidate is early in their career in the nonprofit field, with a focus on development and communications. They should have an interest in public spaces and the issues that intersect with them, including public health, economic opportunity, and/or city policy and planning. In addition, the candidate will have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative and proactive approach to their work.

    This is a full-time remote position; however, we will focus on applicants who are local to and periodically available to meet in person in New York City. The position will report to the Development Manager.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Network Administration:
      • Manage specific project tasks related to PPS' Market Cities Network and new Placemaking Funders Network, as assigned by the Development Manager and/or program staff, such as note-taking in meetings and reporting of membership data
      • Coordinate in-person and virtual logistics of membership meetings; support the program staff in communicating the content of membership programming
      • Cultivate and steward relationships with members from a customer service perspective, from recruitment through renewals
      • Work with the Development Manager and Communications team on ensuring all public-facing information about the networks is accurate and up to date
      • Ensure member information is correct and up to date in Bloomerang CRM
      • Act as the first point of contact for member inquiries and outreach
      • Maintain well-organized network files on our server and tasks in our project management system
      • Research ideas for new event formats and activities to engage members
      • As this is a new position, other responsibilities will be defined throughout the first year
    • General Administration:
      • Maintain the organization’s general email accounts (e.g. info@pps.org), forwarding, replying, or filing emails as necessary
      • Assist with weekly, monthly, and annual data reporting for the Communications and Development departments
      • Pick up physical mail in Brooklyn in a timely manner (as needed, upon electronic notification)
      • Manage occasional scheduling requests for the Co-Executive Directors
    • Staff and Team Activities:
      • Maintain a weekly schedule of team meetings and one-on-one check-ins with manager, as well as participate in bi-weekly full staff meetings
      • Participate in internal network planning and management check-ins
      • Participate in an annual review process and quarterly goal check-ins

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Experience in and enthusiasm for providing outstanding customer service and relationship stewardship
    • Hands-on experience with nonprofits and/or fundraising, particularly in organizations with a membership program
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills with great attention to detail
    • Experience working with people from a diversity of backgrounds and in communities with wide-ranging cultures and socioeconomic contexts
    • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, prioritizing workflow to meet deadlines and paying close attention to detail
    • Familiarity with Bloomerang or a similar CRM tool is preferred
    • Familiarity with Monday.com or a similar project management tool is preferred
    • Comfort with Google Workspace and Adobe Creative Cloud is preferred
    • Experience with surveying and data analysis preferred
    • Strong verbal skills in Spanish is a plus

    This is a full-time, non-exempt salaried position with a benefits package that includes health insurance, a vacation policy, paid sick days, and 11 paid holidays. PPS also offers a work-from-home stipend and a professional development stipend.

    The Project for Public Spaces team works primarily in a remote office environment and meets in-person in New York City once a quarter, with additional optional in-person meeting days monthly. Standard working hours are 9:30am - 5:30pm Eastern Monday–Friday.

    This is a full-time, non-exempt salaried position with a benefits package that includes health insurance, a vacation policy, paid sick days, and 11 paid holidays. PPS also offers a work-from-home stipend and a professional development stipend.
