    Descrição

    NEIWPCC is seeking a full-time or part-time Environmental Analyst to design and host Title 5 trainings for municipal health officials across the state. The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Program (DEP) Title 5 regulation governs the construction and maintenance of septic systems and the transport of septic-system waste.

    What You’ll Do

    As a NEIWPCC Environmental Analyst and an essential member of the Wastewater and Onsite Programs Division, you will:

    • Facilitate and participate in meetings with local boards, commissions and public health departments to assist with interpreting regulations, policies and guidance.
    • Coordinate with internal and external partners to develop and deliver regular training, including in-person workshops, live virtual sessions, and self-paced online modules.
    • Respond to requests for information from local public health officials and provide training and technical assistance as needed on Title 5 and other related rules and regulations.
    • Work closely with partners to align on training infrastructure, local public health training needs and priorities, communications, and other topics as needed.

    Preferred Qualifications

    The successful candidate will have a passion and interest in preserving and advancing water quality, and have:

    • A Soil Evaluator and Septic System Inspector certification.
    • Knowledge of and experience with aspects of wastewater, soil evaluation, state/federal regulations, and wastewater management.
    • Experience collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders in implementing environmental regulations.
    • Certified Environmental Trainer (CET), or interest and ability to obtain certification.
    • A graduate degree in environmental science, engineering, public health, or a related field is preferred.

    Logistics

    A full-time position will work 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week; a part-time position will work up to 20 hours per week with some schedule flexibility. Work location is dependent upon MassDEP’s needs and candidate’s preference of MassDEP’s office locations in Boston, Woburn, Worcester, Lakeville or Springfield, MA. Duties will be performed largely in an office setting with travel for trainings and meetings, for which a valid driver’s license and private means of transportation is required. After six months of employment, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule for in-office duties, subject to approval and program needs.
