"No ICE in Our Cup” Pro-Immigrant Campaign Series

New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice (NJAIJ)

Location: Remote, with priority for artists with New Jersey ties

    Compensation: $1,500 flat fee

    Project Deadline: May 22, 2026

    About Us

The New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice (NJAIJ) is a statewide coalition that fights for policies that empower and protect immigrants. We believe that everyone, regardless of immigration status, deserves to live with dignity and without fear.

    The Project

This year, New Jersey is proudly hosting matches for the 2026 World Cup. While this is an exciting moment for soccer fans worldwide, we also know that this mega-sporting event will be complicated by the federal presence of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents who the federal government has designated as the "primary security apparatus" for the games.

To counter this presence and stand in solidarity with immigrants, NJAIJ is launching a highly visible, pro-immigrant public awareness as part of our summer Know Your Rights campaign. We are seeking a talented graphic designer or illustrator to create a 3-piece series of vibrant, emphatic, and clever graphics that fuse soccer themes with immigrant rights advocacy.

These designs will be the visual anchor of our campaign and will be printed on organizational swag, including posters, t-shirts, tote bags, and stickers.

    Design Concepts & Copy

We are looking for bold, accessible, empowering, and high-energy designs with diverse pro-immigrant and soccer imagery (cleats, soccer balls, goals, red cards, fields, etc.). Our current slogans include:

    • "No ICE in our Cup"
    • "Kick Out ICE"
    • "Our goal? Block ICE"
    • NJAIJ also remains open to additional slogan suggestions with the chosen artist

    Scope of Work & Deliverables

    • Create three (3) distinct but visually cohesive illustrations/graphic designs based on the campaign slogans and themes.
    • Provide final files in high-resolution, print-ready formats (vector files like .AI or .EPS, as well as .PNG/.PDF) optimized for screen printing on apparel, tote bags, and stickers.
    • Participate in one (1) introductory call with NJAIJ communications team.
    • Participate in two (2) rounds of review and revision with the NJAIJ communications team to finalize the designs (remote review is fine).
    • All final designs should include NJAIJ’s logo and may include the artists signature or tag.
    • Attend NJAIJ's June Immigrant Heritage Month Donor Appreciation Event to talk about the vision for your designs and your work.

    Timeline

    • Kickoff: April 22nd.
    • Review Rounds: To be scheduled based on availability but starting no later than May 12th.
    • Final Deliverables Due: No later than May 22, 2026.
    • Donor Appreciation Event: June 4th, 2026.

    Compensation & Usage Rights

    • Budget: We are offering a flat fee of $1,500 for the completion of the 3-piece series.
    • Rights: Upon final payment, the rights to the artwork will be fully transferred to NJAIJ for unlimited use across our merchandise, digital platforms, and print campaigns. The artist will retain the right to display the artwork on their personal website, social media, and professional portfolio.

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated experience in illustration, typography, and graphic design, particularly for apparel and merchandise.
    • A strong portfolio showcasing bold, campaign-style, or social justice-oriented artwork.
    • Ability to receive feedback and meet strict deadlines.
    • A shared commitment to immigrant justice and liberation. (Artists with lived experience in immigrant communities are highly encouraged to apply!)
