    About CWHC: Chicago Women’s Health Center (CWHC) was established in 1975 as an alternative to the traditional model of health care. CWHC’s mission is to facilitate the empowerment of women, trans people, and young people by providing health care and health education in a respectful environment where people pay what they can afford. CWHC carries out this mission through the following services: primary care, sexual and reproductive health care, counseling, comprehensive sexual health education for young people, and more. All services are provided on a sliding scale and regardless of a person’s ability to pay.     About the role: The Communications and Volunteer Coordinator (CVC) is part of CWHC’s Development team. This role builds connections to CWHC’s programs and mission by working closely with other staff and by representing CWHC in Chicago communities. This role also coordinates and supports CWHC’s volunteers across programs and marathon team.

    Communications coordination: 32-35 hours per week

    • Conceptualize and coordinate CWHC’s messages across all communications platforms (social media, website, email, print, and in-person) through:
      • content creation and review
      • engaging with communities and audiences
      • website maintenance
      • collaboration with Development team on messaging and branding
      • coordinating the monthly newsletter
      • monitoring and implementing communications best practices and tools, and archiving communications materials
    • Supporting programs in client- and community-facing communications
    • Serve as the primary support person for the Communications internship

    Volunteer coordination: 4-6 hours per week

    • Coordinate team of runners for Chicago Marathon annually, including recruitment, support, reporting, etc.
    • Coordinate volunteer-related processes, including recruitment, screening, placement, orientation, and appreciation of administrative volunteers and volunteers within other programs as needed
    • Manage scheduling of administrative volunteers and tracking of volunteers’ time across programs
    • Coordinate administrative volunteers’ task assignment and monitoring, interfacing with staff to ensure best placement and support of volunteers
    • Maintain a volunteer policy manual documenting current practices, and updating as necessary to ensure effectiveness

    Collective involvement: 1-2 hours per week

    • Join ad-hoc committees as needed (based on interest and/or skill set or position)
    • Provide feedback in the interest of improving health center services and culture
    • Participate in annual budget assessment process
    • Attend, actively participate, and vote (when eligible) in Collective Meetings (4 meetings per year)

    Successful candidates will have:

    • Previous experience in a Communications or related role
    • Strong writing and editing skills
    • Google Drive proficiency
    • Practice with graphic design software, ideally Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, etc)
    • Commitment to the values of accessibility, self-determination, and justice

    Position structure: This position would be a hybrid remote and on-site role. This is a Chicago-based position.

    Compensation and Benefits: The compensation for this position is $41,600. In addition, CWHC offers generous paid time off and insurance benefits. A minimum of two days per week will be on site and the remaining time may be done remotely as arranged with the Executive Directors and Development team. Benefits include health insurance and generous paid time off. The person in this position will be considered a full-time collective member of CWHC.
