    Descrição

Arnold Ventures (AV) is a philanthropy whose core objective is to maximize opportunity and minimize injustice. We are dedicated to tackling some of the most pressing problems in the United States. We invest in sustainable change, building it from the ground up based on research, deep thinking, and a strong foundation of evidence. We drive public conversation, craft policy, and inspire action through education and advocacy.

    Position Overview

AV believes that health care should be affordable and accessible for families, employers, and taxpayers. To achieve this vision, AV’s Health Care portfolio advances evidence-based solutions that address both the high price we pay for health care and the value we get from those investments. We seek to drive lasting change that spans the health care landscape, with a focus on: Drug Prices, Commercial Sector Prices, Medicare Sustainability, Provider Payment Incentives, Medicaid and State Policy Engagement, and FDA Accountability. The team works with experts from inside and outside government to reform the health care system through evidence generation, policy development, communications, technical assistance, and advocacy to support policy change.

Our FDA Accountability portfolio works to ensure that clinical trials are well-designed and transparent, that FDA’s approval process for drugs and devices is strong and transparent, and that post-approval monitoring and evidence generation works to confirm whether products bring meaningful clinical benefits to patients. It also works to ensure that the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services aligns its coverage decisions with available clinical evidence.

Our Drug Prices portfolio works to advance our belief that prescription drugs must be affordable and accessible for patients, employers, and taxpayers. We focus on the key drivers of high costs for drugs and biologics, which include patent abuses and anticompetitive behaviors, market distortions, high launch prices and unjustified price increases.

We are seeking an Analyst to help provide research, analytical, and operational support to the FDA Accountability and Drug Prices portfolios. This individual will work closely with team members on substantive, policy-oriented projects and gain experience in supporting the development and management of high-impact philanthropic projects on relevant health care issues. This position will be located in our Washington, DC office and will report to the Director, Health Care – FDA Accountability.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Provide analytical and operational support for the Health Care team’s funding initiatives, including active collaboration with team members on grants management and team process management
    • Conduct research/analysis of health care programs and policies, and help develop projects and policy recommendations based on such analysis
    • Track, analyze, and synthesize relevant policy developments, external events, and research in the field
    • Develop written materials and presentation slides for AV’s Board, Executive Vice President and Vice President of Health Care, and other individuals in collaboration with team members
    • Actively contribute to team meetings regarding projects, identifying new areas of opportunity and brainstorming areas for improvement
    • Coordinate and actively contribute to meetings with grantees, experts, and other stakeholders

    Required Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree required
      • 1-3 years of experience in a related field is preferred, including part-time work or internships; preference for experience in positions involving U.S. health policy reform related to FDA, drug pricing issues, Medicaid or Medicare, research, and/or project management
      • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to summarize and communicate key takeaways to diverse, nontechnical audiences
      • Exceptional project management and organizational skills
      • Ability to analyze policy problems, assess potential solutions, and articulate tradeoffs

The salary range for this position will be $80,000-$95,000.
