Part-Time Fee-for-Service Therapist (LGBTQ+ Affirmative) – IHI Therapy Center

IHI Therapy Center (Institute for Human Identity) is New York’s premier LGBTQ+ psychotherapy center, dedicated to providing accessible, affirmative, and culturally competent therapy. Founded in the wake of a historic victory in 1973—when IHI played a pivotal role in removing homosexuality from the DSM—we continue to champion mental health services that respect and celebrate diverse identities. Our mission is to support personal growth and well-being free from traditional gender, sexual orientation, or cultural biases.

Position Overview:

We seek a compassionate and skilled part-time therapist to join our team of LGBTQ+ affirmative clinicians. This is a fee-for-service position with a flexible caseload of 6-12 clients per week, allowing you to create a schedule that aligns with IHI’s hours of operation. Strong consideration will be given to those candidates who offer evening availability.

• LGBTQ+ communities
• Communities of color
• Trauma and grief
• Anxiety disorders & phobias
• Relationship problems
• Self acceptance
• Substance use concerns
• Sexual compulsivity
• Eating disorders and body image issues

Our clientele includes adults aged 18-70, and we welcome therapists with expertise in these areas.

Compensation & Benefits:

• $45-$57 per session, based on licensure (higher rates for couples, groups, and intake sessions)
• Weekly clinical supervision provided by IHI
• Ongoing professional development and training opportunities

Qualifications:

• Licensed or Limited Permit Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), LCSW, LMSW, MFT, or Psychologist
• Strong commitment to LGBTQ+ and gender-nonconforming (GNC) communities in New York City
• Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Ability to adhere to organizational policies and procedures
• Interest in contributing to the IHI community, such as facilitating support groups
• Passion for IHI’s mission and values
