About Us
The Community Health Worker Coalition for Migrants and Refugees (CHWCMR) advances health equity by supporting community health workers serving migrant and refugee communities. Through community-centered partnerships, education, and advocacy, we promote culturally and linguistically responsive approaches to improve health outcomes.
Position Overview
CHWCMR is seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented Communications Coordinator to lead organizational communications across multiple programs and initiatives. This role is responsible for creating bilingual content, managing communications workflows, and producing multimedia materials that elevate community voices.
The ideal candidate is a strong bilingual storyteller, skilled project manager, and creative communicator who can manage multiple projects while ensuring cultural and linguistic accessibility.
Key Responsibilities
Bilingual Content Creation & Storytelling
- Develop and manage weekly blog and social media content in Spanish and English
- Create and edit bilingual newsletter and email communications
- Draft, translate, and publish content for websites and digital platforms
- Ensure all messaging is culturally relevant, accurate, and accessible
- Design visual content using tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Develop communicative campaigns in collaboration with the organizational leadership and program staff
Multimedia Production
- Write scripts for bilingual video and educational content
- Coordinate and produce videos (filming, editing, and publishing)
- Support the development of bilingual (Spanish and English) audio and radio content in alignment with program deliverables
- Collaborate with staff and community partners to create culturally grounded media
Communications Project Management
- Manage workflows using Airtable, Google Drive, Slack, and email
- Maintain editorial and content calendars across multiple initiatives
- Track deliverables, timelines, and communications outputs
- Ensure consistency with organizational standards and requirements
- Maintain organized records of communications, materials, and activities
- Prepare communications reports and updates as requested by collaborators, funders, and key stakeholders
Outreach & Campaign Support
- Support communications strategies for community outreach campaigns
- Assist with developing bilingual materials for workshops, trainings, and public education
- Assist with promotion and communications for community events
- Contribute to the development of accessible educational tools and resources
Operations & Coordination
- Participate in team meetings and organizational planning
- Track and report on communications activities and outcomes
- Identify risks to deliverables and propose proactive solutions
- Collaborate with leadership, program staff, and community partners
- Serve as a liaison between the communications program and external partners, including consultants and contractors
Required Qualifications
- Fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal) required
- 2+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or digital media
- Strong writing, editing, and translation skills across both languages
- Experience managing social media, blogs, and newsletters
- Basic video production and editing experience
- Proficiency with Canva, Wix, and project management tools (Airtable). Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud and Wordpress a plus,
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Commitment to health equity and serving migrant and refugee communities
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related field (e.g., Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism)
- Experience in public health, nonprofit, or community-based organizations
- Experience developing culturally responsive and community-centered communications
- Background in outreach, training, or health education materials
- Experience working with or alongside migrant and refugee communities
- Familiarity with Health Information Privacy (Federal Law) HIPAA, Washington State Health Care Information Act (HCIA – RCW 70.02), FERPA – Student Privacy (Federal Law), CFR Part 2 – Substance Use Disorder Confidentiality (Federal Law).
