Grants Manager
Detalhes
Descrição
Position description: We're looking for a creative, relationship-oriented Grants Manager to own our
grants process end to end — from researching new funders to writing the proposals and reports that
fund our work, to managing the annual calendar. You'll be the connective tissue between our programs
in Chajul, our data, and the foundations who make our work possible, translating the day-to-day impact
of our school and library into compelling funding requests. This role reports to the Director of
Development and works closely with our communications team and program staff. Because we're a small
team, you'll have significant responsibility and independence from day one.
Organizational overview: Limitless Horizons Ixil (LHI) creates opportunities for the Indigenous youth,
women, and families of Chajul, Guatemala to develop the academic and professional skills needed to
effect change in their lives and community. Led by an all-female, majority-Indigenous leadership team,
we run a full-day secondary school, Colegio Horizontes; the Saber Sin Límites Community Library, Chajul's
first public library; and our Emerging Leaders program supporting alumni through their post-secondary
transitions in the rural highlands in an isolated Ixil-speaking community which was at the heart of the
Guatemala armed conflict and where educational opportunities are extremely scarce. In 2026, we'll
celebrate our first-ever high school graduation—a first in their family for many of our graduates and a
historic milestone for Chajul.
Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare for and sometimes participate in funder meetings, calls, briefing leadership and advising on strategy
- Serve as a knowledgeable, warm point of contact who represents LHI's work with clarity and heart
- Proposal, LOI & Report Writing
- Write first drafts of letters of inquiry, full proposals, and funder reports, collaborating closely with program and finance staff
- Translate program data and stories into persuasive, accurate narratives in LHI's voice
- Tailor each submission to the funder's guidelines, priorities, and format
- Grants Calendar & Systems
- Own and manage the grants calendar, tracking deadlines for applications, reports, and renewals
- Maintain accurate grant records and ensure timely, compliant submissions
- Support the operations team to build and refine systems for data collection for funder reports
- Budgets
- Develop and format project and program budgets in partnership with finance and program staff
- Draft budget narratives and justifications that align with proposal narratives
- Track grant-funded expenditures against commitments to support accurate reporting
- Collaboration & Communications
- Attend twice-monthly meetings to get updates from Chajul and discuss grant strategy with team
- Partner with the communications team to keep messaging, stories, and impact data consistent across grants and public-facing materials
- Work with the Director of Development to align grant strategy with overall fundraising goals
- Contribute to a small, collaborative team where everyone pitches in across high-level and hands-on work
