    General Info on SAGE:

    SAGE is the world’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer or questioning (LGBTQ+) older adults. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in New York City, SAGE is a national organization that offers supportive services and consumer resources for LGBTQ+ older adults and their caregivers, advocates for public policy changes that address the needs of LGBTQ+ older people, and provides cultural competency training for aging providers and LGBTQ+ organizations, largely through its National Resource Center on LGBTQ+ Aging and its growing social enterprise SAGECare.

    What We Need:

    The Concierge greets SAGE Center older adult participants, announces visitors upon arrival, answers and routes phone calls, and provides support to SAGE’s constituents, SAGE Center programming and operations, and to SAGE as a whole. This role reports to the Director of the SAGE Center Bronx at Crotona Pride House and is an integral part in ensuring the Center remains a welcoming and inclusive space.

    What You'll Do:

    • Provide administrative support to SAGE Center Bronx at Crotona Pride House
    • Greet and direct Participants and visitors entering the Center
    • Gain general knowledge about Center operations, program times and locations, and the Center’s calendars
    • Answer phone and in-person queries, responding, transferring, or following up as necessary
    • Provide information and referrals to callers
    • Register new SAGE Center Participants (guide through registration form, take photo, assign key tag, explain general Center services, give tours, etc.)
    • Maintain Participant RSVP lists for SAGE Center events and activities
    • Maintain a clean and organized reception and lobby area
    • Provide data entry support using STARS and Salesforce
    • Receive and sort mail and deliveries, and notify recipients
    • Capture information and referrals and maintain metrics data
    • Create flyers for the Center to advertise events
    • Process electronic fees and collect non-electronic fees
    • Open/close the Center as requested by the Director
    • Provide training/guidance to volunteers and new hires into Concierge role
    • Provide other assistance/support as needed

    Who You Are:

    Need-to-haves:

    • Bilingual English/Spanish
    • Demonstrated experience in similar role
    • Ability to manage multiple phone lines and transfer accordingly
    • Willingness to learn about SAGE’s programming, both nationally and specific to the SAGE Centers and answer inquiries from callers and in-person visitors
    • Ability to work comfortably and effectively in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, using good judgment
    • Ability to provide a welcoming environment; interact professionally and warmly with Participants, visitors, and staff; and escalate concerns appropriately
    • Ability to multitask with excellent time-management skills
    • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel
    • Commitment to SAGE’s mission and alignment with SAGE’s values

    Nice-to-haves:

    • Experience with Salesforce and NYC Aging databases
    • Experience in aging and/or social services and/or LGBTQ+ services
    • Experience and passion for working with marginalized communities, particularly BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    What We Offer:

    • The status: This is a permanent, full-time, regular, non-exempt position
    • The union affiliation: This is a union-covered position, and the successful candidate will be required to join the SAGE Workers Union and is covered by the Union’s Collective Bargaining Agreement.
    • The location and work schedule: 35 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-5:00PM, which may vary in accordance with business necessity; 5 days onsite in the Bronx
    • The salary: $46,000/year (in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, which places each union-covered role into a specific salary band with set compensation determined by years of service in that salary band at SAGE)
